An alliance between Cornwall, a kingdom abundant in magic, and Camelot, a kingdom abundant in everything but, has been underway for months and it looks like the discussions are finally coming to a close. Much to their mutual displeasure, Princess of Camelot and the Prince of Cornwall are to be married, to solidify the alliance.
However, unforeseen developments leave them with no other choice but become unlikely allies to protect their people from dangers known and unknown.

Summary
Something is wrong with the lake. It’s a long accepted fact among local residents that something about it is not normal. It looks normal, a picturesque body of water by the road with a little island and some old ruins rising up from the centre. The bloke the council sent for the environmental survey said it was normal. Everything around it is normal. But the locals know it’s not.
Merlin and Arthur are back together, so shouldn't they have a happily ever after? Not exactly. Merlin is dealing with the shock and guilt of having Arthur back after centuries of waiting while Arthur is struggling to adjust to the 21st century. Plus there's that whole "Albion's need is greatest" thing to deal with and Merlin really needs to get round to telling his boyfriend about everything he missed while he was busy getting knocked out or enchanted. They could really use some help. Lucky for them it's on it's way.

What if instead of waiting over 1500 years, Merlin only had to wait 200 for Arthur to return?
It’s been 200 years since Merlin had to say goodbye to Arthur, and since that was the day Merlin’s world fell apart, it only makes sense that Albion began falling apart that day, too. When he finds out that Arthur was actually due to return a while back, he gets mad. In a I’m-the-most-powerful-sorcerer-to walk-the-earth-and-you-WILL-listen-to-me kind of mad. The kind of mad that has him yanking one king and five confused knights out of the lake (with Freya’s help of course).
Merlin feels broken, has for two centuries now, but being reunited with your other half can be a wonderful thing, including the first step towards healing, and a future that doesn’t look quite so lonely anymore.

"I'm not lying!" Arthur yelled and while his knights all nodded, he could see the slight roll of their eyes. "She's real. I swear on my life she is!" He tried again. Gwaine outright laughed. Arthur really should just behead him. That would solve everything.
"What's her name then?" Leon asked reasonably. Arthur stared. "My lord, is it...At all possible she might have just been in your head?" He asked, gently. Arthur felt his mouth drop.
"I am not crazy!"
"Well..." Merlin began and the prince turned to glare at him. "I've watched you try to put on a shirt, sire."
"He said crazy. Not incapable." Elyan murmured and immediately winced when Arthur gaped at him. "Sorry, I...Sorry." He offered weakly. "You're not crazy."
"Just incapable!" Merlin smiled. Arthur hated everyone and swore on his life he would find this damn lake lady even if it was the last thing he ever did.
Or
Arthur comes across a beautiful woman near a lake who likes to talk about her husband a lot. Nobody believes him except Merlin (aka Freya lives).
