Summary
It's 2020 and In-ho and Gi-hun's fifth year as the hosts of the games.
Together, they've adapted to their situation better than either of them expected, but there's still something that nags at Gi-hun: why do people value money over their own lives? With a familiar face in this year's group of players, will the pattern of the past continue, or will the tide finally change?
A season one retelling.

Summary
In-ho has one chance to convince Gi-hun to join him as his right-hand-man, or else the VIPs want him dead. He agrees.
Because In-ho is right. The rebellion didn't work. It was never going to work. The players are simply too far removed from the people really in charge. Even killing the Front Man would only result in a replacement Front Man. But as the Front Man's protégé, Gi-hun can make a difference. He can do what he can for the players from above, rather than below. He can investigate the gold-masked men. He can scheme.
There's light in the darkness. In-ho helps Gi-hun get Ga-yeong back. He teaches him how to fight, how to survive in this deadly world. Slowly, slowly, they begin to trust each other. (The kissing happens long before the trust.)
Gi-hun uses his new power, undreamt of in his old life, to do what he never did before: think only of others. And the luxury helps, the high-end alcohol helps, but of course he's still tortured by guilt. But at least they're tortured together, and take sanctuary in each other. Gi-hun gets to fight in favor of the players; In-ho gets to not be alone. They both got what they wanted.
Begins immediately following the events of S2.

Summary
The offer had been simple and left very little up for debate; the other players were going to try and kill him, there was no doubt about it, In-Ho was right that he and the baby were now both targets. With a sparing glance to the baby he swore to protect, Gi-Hun took the knife and did as he was told.
Which both delights, and horrifies In-Ho all the same.

Summary
In-ho never considered himself a good man.
He saw the world as it was. This was necessary in his job as a police officer. If he had hidden behind naive thoughts and the belief that there was good in everyone, he wouldn't have made it this far.
He saw the world in all its glory. Humanity at its lowest point, at the very edge from which there was no turning back.
In-ho crossed that line.
Because these games were far worse than he could have ever imagined.
Now only a shell remains of his list. Nothing seems to belong to him anymore. He has failed as the brother, son, husband, and father he never became.
If life is no longer his, it will be filled with hatred. Hatred is the only thing he can call his own. He will turn it into a weapon he will aim at this man.
The white mask of the Frontman will fall at his feet, even if he has to die standing.
Revenge is not a choice.
It is a need.
___
Maybe we are just born cursed by fate.
There has to be someone to blame.
Isn't that right, dad?

Summary
“Ask me,” Gi-hun demands, and it's stern but effective. He pretends he doesn't care as he puts his cigarette back between his lips.
In-ho's reaction is immediate, and he squirms in his armchair as Gi-hun observes him from the corner of his eye. He takes a drag, waiting.
“What?”
“You know what. Ask me,” Gi-hun repeats as he blows smoke in In-ho's direction. He looks up to stare right at In-ho with heavy-lidded eyes as he lets his voice come out as a purr. “I might give you what you want.”
“I—”
Gi-hun inhales smoke again and uncrosses his legs, spreading himself in his own chair. He's patient with In-ho, and In-ho looks like he wants to do something stupid like run away and hide. Gi-hun's basking in a strange sense of power the sight evokes in him.
“...I want you.”
Or,
In-ho reacts rather enthusiastically to Gi-hun giving his first orders to their employees. Gi-hun notices and decides to take the matter in his own hands... and mouth.

Summary
He drank until the walls fell away into nothing around him. Until the space—the silence—hollowed him out until the only thing that remained was the echo of her memory.
It was a funny thing, remembrance, a curse as much as it was a blessing.
He never knew how long he sat there, how long he waited for it to pass—knowing it never would. He’d sit there for hours on end, stone-still in a chair he couldn’t remember walking to, staring at nothing but shadows, remembering everything he’d left in the light.

Summary
Gihun slipped into his long pink coat, tugging at it before reaching for his phone. The screen glowed back at him, blank but heavy with the reminder that he only had ten months until the next round began. Ten months to dismantle the machine, whether by force, or somehow changing Inho’s mind.
Somehow.
A “he’d never say/do this” crack treated srsly story in which Gihun becomes co-Frontman alongside Inho, trying to dismantle the system from within, whether that means sabotaging the workplace, organizing the guards into a union, or even… seducing Inho himself.

Summary
"Don't you remember, Mr. Seong? You still accepted my proposition," Inho says softly and steps aside so that Gihun can see how the coffin is being carried to the body on the floor and not to the empty cradle, "to get the baby out of the Game. The baby is already safe."
Gihun's fingers turn noticeably white when they dig into the blanket so tightly that it seems as if the fabric is cracking under them. He pulls his palm away, trying to feel for something, and almost jumps when his hand comes across a dagger smeared with blood, leaving brown streaks on the white sheet. The stains from the soaking blood can be seen so clearly, as if someone had pressed the switch on the overhead light in the room.
"I couldn't do it," Gihun immediately says incredulously, "I... I couldn't..."

"When you kill them, come back if you want to return me the favor. The guards will let you in"
In-ho looked at him one last time and, without fighting back, he turned around and walked to the elevator.

"Fucking lord" he groaned with a smile "I really hope he comes back"

Summary
"The Front Man turned, and though his expression was hidden, Gi-hun could feel the smirk in his voice.
“Put him in there with the traitor.”
A guard in a black hazmat suit chuckled darkly, and before Gi-hun could react, he was shoved through the doorway. The door slammed shut behind Gi-hun with a resounding finality, the lock clicking into place.
...
Then, his eyes landed on the figure slumped in the chair.
His breath caught in his throat. His vision blurred at the edges as he stumbled forward, his heart hammering against his ribs. Young-il. He was here. He was alive.
Gi-hun’s legs felt like they might give out beneath him as he crossed the room, his footsteps echoing in the silence."***
Set immediately after the end of season 2. In which Young-il/In-ho is the Front Man, until he isn't. A tale of how his own guards betray In-ho, but he's too focused on redeeming himself and trying to win Gi-hun back to care. Pining, slow burn and redemption mixed with doubt and a lot of angst.
