Summary
Kyo's laughter ceases, and Tohru wishes she could take it back.
She'd take back her words. She'd take back all the cuts and wounds she's reopened tonight. Maybe she'd take back ever climbing up to the rooftop in the first place.
It was stupid to think it'd make him happy, or hopeful—when her own optimism is like cracked glass. The temporary joy of talking about silly little things, about their feelings, about a future—it always comes back to sadness, to grief, to another life cut short.

“I don’t wanna talk about that,” he says, dropping her hand.
And Tohru thinks of that time last year, talking about wishes on the roof—and her only wish right now is that he would kiss her again. She’s never kissed anyone before, and she supposes that wasn’t exactly a real kiss... but butterflies erupt in her belly now, and she wishes she could put the feeling into words—but it leaves her speechless. As stupid as it makes her feel.

Summary
When the train accelerates out of the station, the man to her right accidentally bumps into her, his entire torso pressing into her side. She flashes him a gracious smile, hoping he doesn't think she's angry with him. It's a crowded train, after all, and these things happen!
But then, at the next stop, he stumbles into her as the train arrives, and again as it leaves. Then again, and again, and again. Every time the train starts or stops, he leans against her, smiling and apologizing and letting his hips rest against her for just a little bit longer.
She bites her tongue and tries not to cry. It's probably not intentional. He apologized, after all. And the train is still quite packed, and he doesn't seem that steady on his feet. It's okay. It's all okay. It has to be okay.
She gets off a stop early and walks the rest of the way to work in her new heels. Her feet are bleeding when she arrives.

Tohru has always smiled through her pain. Why would this be any different?

Summary
Blood is on her tongue, metallic and overwhelming to her senses. It takes all her self control not to feast on her right there, knows she has to savor her meals, and perhaps Tohru is like nothing she's tasted, or smelled for that matter. Not possessed by animal instincts like the others, but perhaps some strange reverence.
"Oh, don't lie to me." Akito's voice is firm, the manic light in her eye scaring Tohru— she'll remain planted there, as easy to control as a pretty doll. Akito just can't help but want to break her.
