Berona’s lights overpowered the stars. The city was beautiful and lively, cheering and cursing Ging’s name in the streets far below as everyone partied into the night. Mito didn’t think Ging would ever go down to join them; she wondered if she might have, in a different life. No, she decided, wiping her tears. Mito missed the starry sky and moonlight on the waves; she missed Gon and smiled, knowing Abe was letting him stay up past his bedtime to grasp at fireflies with chubby fingers.
Mito closed her eyes and felt the wind muss her hair, wishing it smelled of sea salt. There was a hint of something on the wind. Different from the ripeness of grapes and the sweat and sunscreen of tourists that she had grown familiar with. Something metallic - Mito tilted her head back, sniffing the air, and felt a needle prick against her neck.
She knew it wasn’t a bug bite.
“Keep your eyes closed,” A monotone voice commanded.

Laying on the side of a sparkling lake, Gon was looking at the dark sky, with tears in his eyes, thinking back on how he got there in the first place. He saw all his close friends die and stayed with them in their last moments. Feeling the wind, he felt envious.
Envious to the fact that they were not alone as he is right now.

“I wanted to see them… at least, one more time…” Gon said, as he closed his eyes and tears finally fell on the ground he was laying on.
