Jason froze at the sudden sound of crying.
He set the drink tray on the table, taking a seat, but no one noticed—everyone was staring at the newcomer. He frowned, turned his gaze to the door, and his eyes shot open faster than someone who’d just had an adrenaline boost.
It was a blonde woman, no older than 30, stumbling into the cafe while clearly intoxicated. She reeked of alcohol, her hair was messy, and every step she took looked like it would be her last. Jason felt his entire body go rigid—she looked so much like Beryl—but then he noticed the little boy behind her. He was blond, likely her son, and sobbing. There were tears streaming down his face, snot dripping from his nose, and he was beet red.
The woman yanked him forward, bending down to get in the kids face. “I said shut it. We’re in public.”

One thing Leo wasn’t expecting when the prophecy of the seven was fulfilled was Jason asking for more work.
He should have expected it since all the kids of minor gods at camp half-blood weren’t going to magically have a cabin made in one afternoon but that didn’t mean he couldn’t complain all he wanted, he’d almost sacrificed himself and he knew he deserved a break, which he was graciously taking, but he wanted to enjoy his break with Jason. Instead the son of Zeus was working hard to fulfill his promise to the demigods which made Leo unnaturally annoyed.
Eventually an intervention was desperately needed.
