Grian never expected that pushing a button could do so much. All the signs were there, the weird noises coming from the rift. The shiver that comes down his spine whenever he gets too close.
The rift led somewhere else. If that wasn't enough proof, getting a paper when Scar decided to use the content generator, that came from the other side od the portal would be enough.
It wouldn't be to empires, that portal closed a while ago.
Falling to another universe with Scar was not what Grian though he'd do. As well as being a teenager now, Grian learned that this world has superpowers called quirks. Then Scar ends up convincing him to join some weird hero school in that other universe.
Or
Desert duo gets forced into class 1-A because Scar wants to truly become hotguy.

Summary
He stopped.
A static-y noise became apparent. Coming from Scar’s feet. The two of them looked down. Wrapping around Scar’s foot tightly, was.. was the void.
An odd description, Grian will admit, but there wasn’t any other word he could think of. A disgustingly familiar purple glow shimmered out of the void.
It had stars, filled to the brim with magic– banned magic Grian might add!
Before Scar or Grian could say anything, the void creature thingy, whatever it was, tugged on Scar, he slipped backwards, into the rift cave.
Something got to him before Grian did. Shoot.
Or
Grian clicks a button, him and Scar get dragged into the rift. After some mix up with a creeper, Scar and Grian now are seen as villains by this city. (And have a criminal record)
They do more vigilante work than villain work. But, all the while they have a great vacation!
