“Right, so our doctor fancies Geoffrey.”
“Fancies how? To turn him?”
“No, Artie, he fancies him. How do I put it… wants to tinker with his crossbow. Shove his revolver in Geoffrey’s holster. Bite, but not the neck—more like the sword, and not bite, more… lick.”

Summary
Flu cases are down, Skal plague nearly gone, and Geoffrey McCullum has never had more problems. Creating an exception, cooperating with a leech, if only to save London, may tear apart Priwen as the epidemic never could.
Flu cases are down, the Blood of Hate is vanquished for now, and Jonathan Reid has barely any fewer responsibilities. He has his family and old friend to care for, and his patients, and his new progeny, and his project to cure Elisabeth Ashbury.
When McCullum is attacked and wounded steps from the Pembroke Hospital on a trip to make peace with the Brotherhood of Saint Paul's Stole--by a human--it becomes clear they have more worries still, and they need each other still. But pulling the thread will simply reveal a tangle of plots and schemes, by dangerous mortals and immortals grasping for control in London's secret societies and streets by night, with no clear way out.

Summary
Geoffrey had always known the leech calling itself Jonathan Reid was nothing more than a beast.
With a severe bite wound adorning his neck after fighting the vampire in the attic, Geoffrey is determined to set an end to him after the epidemic.
Yet as the doctor appears in his dreams, he can't get him out of his mind. For God's sake, he even starts to consider the beast a person. One with very sad eyes that cause his heart to skip a beat at times.(Basically Geoff and Jonny both blaming their feelings on vampire magic and pestering Talltree about it, who tries more than once to explain they simply have a crush on each other.)

Summary
The London Borough Council have asked Priwen to 'clear the place out' as the neighbours are becoming very concerned with the amount of noise coming from the building. Geoffrey leads the squad into the building only to come face to face with the most terrifying creature he's ever seen.
The monster asks the Guardsmen to leave, begs for mercy, but McCullum does not negotiate with Leeches. The fight is a brutal one and Geoffrey finds himself injured and unconscious. When he wakes, he cannot stand, his leg is broken and his arms are injured and he feels physically weak.
The Ekon, apparently named Jonathan, refers to itself as a Doctor, says it used to be a Doctor before it turned and it offers to let Geoffrey stay as long as he needs to recover. He promises not to harm the hunter and further and apologises for the injuries it caused.
McCullum is stubborn, but he's not stupid. He knew he wouldn't survive the journey across London back to Priwen in his current state, and he can't bring his men to him. So he stays with the Leech, promising himself he won't fall for its false kindness.
Besides... It is just until he recovers, right?

Summary
“I hate him.” He said after he took another swig from the whiskey - actually it was the last of it, as he glanced down, he just realised that the bottle was empty.
“Hate is a strong word to use.”
“It’s also the right word to use.” Grumbled Geoffrey, the pain was finally was drown out by the alcohol. -

Summary
McCullum grabbed his sword from where it was propped against his workbench and approached the sound, his movements practiced and methodical; there was no way for a living creature to get onto the wooden platform two stories in the air. Geoffrey knew leeches couldn't get inside the building without an invitation, but he stayed far away from any potentially grabbing claws regardless as he unlocked the door and opened it wide. He was hit with a blast of raindrops as the door slammed back into the wall with a resounding crack. There on the balcony, dripping water, was Jonathan Reid.

Summary
Out of all the flawed characters in London, both those he healed and those he killed, none of them were like McCullum.
The hunter was so sure of himself, so sure of his cause, that he risked death to even attempt to bring Jonathan to his knees. It was fascinating and invigorating to be in the same room as the one man who knew exactly what he was and did not flee. Jonathan found himself willing to do anything to be in the man's presence, even if it meant he had to entangle himself further in the whims and wants of others; no, not others, just McCullum.

Summary
"We're going to help you."
"But...why?" Carina asked, a vulnerable note in her tone, "I'm a stranger, you don't know me."
Charlotte gave the other woman a soft smile, "do I really need a reason to help a fellow suffragette?" she joked lightheartedly, trying to assuage her nerves. Carina's hair was beginning to dry in the rapidly cooling air, and Charlotte realized that they'd been talking longer than she thought.
Or, a night of campaigning leads to an unexpected surprise.

Summary
Doctor Jonathan Reid liked to think he was a helpful person; assisting the needy was, after all, one of the reasons he'd chosen to study medicine. However, as he stood over McCullum's badly wounded body, while facing off with two Ekon, he thought dimly that maybe he was in over his head. There was little time for introspection however, with one of the Ekon lunging at the surgeon while the other circled back, looking for an opening to strike.
