Red was the colour of the lilies that grew around a remote village deep within the inhospitable island, the only beauty among the rare inhabitants of these salty, barren lands. Kazuha's father, the tribe's priest, often told the legend of their origin during rites. Once, at a time of great need for the tribe, the Sown God descended upon these lands. Wherever he stepped, sharp stones cut into his feet, drawing blood. And where the blood soaked into the soil, beautiful red lilies grew. Kaedehara Kazuha is the sole attendant of a lighthouse that once belonged under his family's name. He is trapped, metaphorically and physically, by the isolated island the lighthouse resides on and the grief of his friend's passing: He cannot leave the island, because that is where Tomo is. That is—until a certain stranger appears during the night within the chaos of storm and sea, seeking refuge from his own travails.
