They were to go to an abandoned mall in N/A to secure an S.C.P., and save the local mobile task force S.C.P. workers that were there before them. They all sat in the dark room as the projector showed images of the mall, entities, enemies, and what not. The room smelled like wet carpet and cold air, as most of their foundation building did.

Summary
One year after a defrosted Khan temporarily killed Enterprise second officer James Kirk, permanently killed fifteen thousand people on the San Francisco waterfront, and critically injured Leonard McCoy's ex-wife Jocelyn and daughter Joanna, the doctor attends a medical conference held on Starbase 4. James Kirk accompanies him on his way to sign on as the first officer of the hospital ship Nightingale, serving under Captain Christopher Pike.
When Jocelyn arrives unexpectedly on the starbase to leave McCoy with sole custody of his daughter, his life is placed on a collision course with a certain Vulcan healer named Spock.
