He’d pushed through the storm with unrelenting reserve, a steady point for Aaron to cling to when it felt like he was falling blindly, making sure they both made it through to the other side. He had done it again and again and again - he was still doing it now, since he was here in Aaron and John’s bed despite his own reservations, just because Aaron had asked him to.
But that had been a different Robert, the one that hadn’t been to prison yet. Prison changed people whether they wanted to or not, Robert included. He wasn’t as arrogantly confident anymore, even if it still shone through at times, having lost some of that ambitious drive that had been so alluring to Aaron in the beginning. The man who always had a plan, a solution to any problem, wasn’t there anymore, lost somewhere in the abyss that was the last six years.
Aaron asks Robert to stay for the first night at the Mill.
