Summary
There was usually a certain air to nightmares that made them easy to pick out from reality. Once the initial spike of terror faded into manageable fear, the unnatural feeling to it all seeped through the cracks. For those that were accustomed to frequent nightmares, it wasn’t impossible to yank themselves back into the safety of their bedroom.
Night terrors, though? They were completely different beasts. Nightmares could be tamed. Night terrors could be survived.

It's ironic to him how the only time that Jason ever means anything to anyone always seems to be when he's nearly dying.
Maybe that's the point though, maybe no one's meant to care for him. Not when he's not even realistically supposed to be alive.
Or in which Jason gets abducted, he doesn't expect anyone to rescue him. Especially considering Dick and him aren't on the best of terms at the moment. But when his older brother gets captured while out searching for him, things change.
And Jason will stop at nothing to ensure the elder's safety. Even if it means risking his own.

The silence continues to ring, and Jason's efforts subdue. He can barely muster the energy to fight the tightly wrapped chains, and his head falls. It hurts, and the cuts in his wrist begin to hum under his skin, slowly burning him up from the inside.
Everything hurts.
It stops suddenly, and his head is forcefully lolled to the side, tugged by its roots to face the bloody grin of a manic clown. Red is all he sees. A twisted smile on a pale face, and an unconscious tremble as Jason’s eyes widen.
The Joker.
The world comes crashing down.

He struggled weakly against strong hands pinning him down. No no no. He had to leave, before he died. He needed Bruce. Then he heard a familiar voice, he couldn’t recall who it belonged to but it was calming. “You’re safe now, Jaylad.”
Safe…He was safe. What happened? Oh, yeah. The Joker. He fell unconscious again with everything replaying in his mind.
Or Jason is safe after dealing with the Joker and he recalls what he went through.
