Summary
She had met Jin one singular time before, and the only reason they had a date set up was due to Zuko’s overbearingness and Jin’s forwardness.
But she… she definitely liked Jin. She was pleasing to look at and hadn’t backed down when Azula had challenged her (Zuzu and Uncle thought that the challenge was unnecessary, but if this Earth Kingdom girl couldn’t handle a mere small challenge, how would she fair on an actual date with her?). That was an impressive feat, certainly. Not to mention enduring.
They had spoken for only a short period of time, but there was something about this girl that made Azula curious. And, on some level, excited. Perhaps her brother constantly talking Jin up before he introduced them had done something, because Azula found that she was a bit smitten after one conversation.

All it had taken was one wrong move.
They were going on a walk. The sun was out, it was early morning so the streets of Ba Sing Se weren’t terribly crowded. Their shoulders were touching while they walked.
Azula was smiling widely, she looked relaxed, content, and like she was living in the moment. That was all Jin ever wanted for her, it was all she deserved.
Four months living in Ba Sing Se had done wonders for her; she was glowing.
All it had taken was a loud crash from behind as a cabbage cart fell apart, collapsing to the ground due to whatever weight had fallen on it for her to panic.
In a matter of seconds, the weight of Azula’s shoulder was gone.

They had dinner with Uncle shortly after they got together. He asked them how their weekend was, if they did anything fun. Their eyes met from across the table, and within seconds, they both knew that neither were ready to tell him.
Of course, they did want to take things slow. Azula was, to be frank, scared—absolutely terrified by the very idea of dating someone. She grew up learning that relationships were fake, forged to benefit her. Relationships were to exist only with the permission of her father. They were something that she always ached for, something she fantasized about at night in the security of her dreams.
