Summary
Jon and Martin‘s conversations are normally confined to polite small talk in the teachers’ lounge. They don‘t have much else to say and generally avoid each other‘s presence.
Until a staff member falls ill right before the school‘s trip to Florence, and Jon is forced to tag along.
5 days in the heart of the Renaissance: Grading papers, running through museums, and trying to put a name to this weird tension between them.

Summary
The fog comes back.
Nothing else has found its way into their safe little haven yet, but the fog does, creeping through the cracks of their cabin, blanketing them in thick, heavy billows.
Jon is there every time, he's there to pull Martin back when he gets lost, bleary eyes and hands so transparent Jon's fingers glide right through when he reaches for them.
"Martin", he says, forcing a shaky smile on his lips as he tries to hold onto the warmth Martin's name elicits in him. "Martin? Come on. Come back to me."
"Jon?" His name echoes, the mist thickening.
"Yes", Jon says emphatically. "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere without you. You're not alone anymore, Martin, remember?"
Martin blinks, something sparking up in his eyes, but the cold fog sets heavily around them, blurring Jon's vision.
"No!" Jon reaches out, won't let himself lose sight of Martin ever again, he won't let him slip away. "No, you can't have him!" he yells into the cold white all around. "He's not yours to claim!"

Or, the one where Jon and Martin try to find what happiness they can, despite the Lonely looming, the Eye watching, and their own doubts weighing them down.

Hair was a big part of culture in the Yggdrasil system, back while it still existed. This includes the type of hairstyles you wore, what kind of things you used to tie your hair with, and who helped you do your hair.
You would expect the culture of a system to completely die once the system gets ripped apart by eldritch horrors. But one Lyfrassir Edda wasn’t going to let it die so easily. Especially when they have to raise a child alongside the most annoying immortal space pirates in the known galaxy.

Lyfrassir had taken a part in raising Jon. Teaching him many (legal) things as he got older. Jon learned how to speak to people professionally, how to quickly get information, and…YggdrasilIan hair culture? Yes.
So put Jon, who is used to abiding by the hair culture of Auncle Lyf (Now, Renny Lyf!) with people who were raised on earth, by normal humans. Oh, and he so happens to have a crush on one of them.

Tim gave Jon a ride home a few months ago and the song “3" by Brittany Spears came on the radio. Jon didn't understand it and Tim deadpan said it was about collating and organizing.
It is Not.
Because Jon is bad at jokes, he believed him.
Now Jon wants to bond with the archive staff so, after some research, he discovers that Lock Ins with Pop Music are a Thing that people do. He only knows the one pop song but that's okay because it's very thematically appropriate!
The archives staff have Questions. Like…“which 2 of us… or is Jon a vouyer?” Martin is hopeful. Tim initially wonders why but eventually realizes what he's done and fears being fired as things become progressively more and more chaotic throughout the evening. Elias is just having a Blast Seeing all this from his office. Jon is blissfully unaware of the chaos.

Martin stared at him for a long time, though it was hard to say if it was seconds or hours. It wasn’t until he pulled his fingers away and sheepishly into his lap that Jon even remembered they were there. Eventually he realized Martin wasn’t going to say anything, so the burden fell to him.

"Where did you get that?"
Martin stares at it with wide eyes, setting the tea down quite unsteadily.
"Uhm." Jon looks at him, puzzled. "I don't think I...got it anywhere", he says. "It was here, in my office. I assumed you or- well, someone brought it in for me to record. Why?"
Martin swears under his breath.
"That's not-" Martin adjusts his glasses with a flustered motion. "That wasn't supposed to- You weren't supposed to have that."
"What do you mean?"
He takes the tea Martin set down on his desk, taking a sip. It's perfect. Just the way he likes it. Of course it is. It always is when Martin makes it- though Jon can't remember ever actually having told Martin how he takes his tea.
He waits for Martin to answer, but he just stands there with his eyes flitting around the room, lips pressed tight as his hands worry at the seam of his cardigan.
"Martin?" Jon sets the cup down. "It's a Statement. I'm the Archivist. What do you mean I'm not supposed to have it?"

Or, the one where Jon finds a Statement in his office, and it makes some long-held feelings surface, and some long-overdue conversations finally take place.
