Summary
Josh Dun signs up to volunteer at the local animal shelter to fill the quiet parts of his life—he doesn't expect to meet Tyler Joseph, the guarded vet tech with a weird thing about leashes being coiled correctly, who glares at everyone like they owe him money.
Tyler didn't need anyone messing up his routine, especially not someone who names every dog after a snack food and talks to them like they're coworkers. But there Josh was, all soft smiles and chaotic kindness, a new hair color every week. He makes the shelter feel like something other than a place where things come to break.
Tyler keeps pushing him away, but Josh keeps showing up. And against his better judgement, Tyler slowly wishes he'd stay.

Summary
He passes by the window, as he does every night, but a flash of colour makes him stop dead in his tracks. He whips his head to the side, looking out the glass.
A man, dressed in dark olive greens and yellow stripes, a yellow bandana pulled up over the lower half of his face, is standing on the ground outside and holding a flaming torch, looking directly up at him.-----------
Tyler is just trying to live his life as an exceptional citizen of Dema, but the Torchbearer won't leave him alone.

Summary
The first thing to vanish was the noise. No more chatter from the radios, no more hum of latenight stations filling the emptiness of sleepless hours. Towers went dark one by one, until all that was left was the hollow hiss of static. In the silence that followed, monsters came. Towns crumbled, highways turned into graveyards of rust. Survivors learned to whisper instead of shout, to hide instead of search. Yet sometimes, when the night was quiet enough and the wind turned just right there was still a voice. A voice that told people where not to go, what roads still held danger, which shadows were alive. No one knew the man behind it. Only that when the world itself had gone silent, someone out there was still speaking. And for those who were lost, that was enough.
Meeting Torchbearer is the first time in months Clancy leaves his bunker willingly. Something about a strange broadcast telling him to follow the yellow cuts through the static of his cynicism. He wonders if someone else out there is carrying a torch for more than just themselves. Clancy doesn't know if this will be his redemption, or just another dead-end signal. But as long as his voice carries, he'll keep speaking.
Because silence in this world is death. -

Summary
“Come here,” Josh gets to his feet jerkily, a puppet strung along on strings as he moves closer. "Sit still."
Josh obeys. Of course he does. He has no other choice. The collar affixed around his neck makes sure of that.
The stranger stares down at him with kind brown eyes, a gentle hand reaching forwards, brushing against Josh's fur. He straightens up to face the shopkeeper with a nod.
"I'll take him."
Or
Tyler is lonely and impulsively decides to wander into a magical animal shop to buy a cute dog to keep him company. Josh, a shifter stuck in his dog form and cursed by a Sorcerer to obey every command given to him, isn't as fond of the idea.
Somewhere along the way, they both find exactly what they were looking for.

Summary
There’s misfortune, there’s condemnation, there’s unforgivable, and there’s him. Tyler knows he was born with a sickness that sucks the good out of everything he dares to touch, and if he was any good, he would show some self restraint, not want and want and want in a way that is so greedy.
Or: Tyler is born God's least favourite, lives his life waiting for his inevitable undoing. Then, he meets Josh.

Summary
from Los Angeles, California, twenty-year-old drummer and college student Joshua Dun rolls into the sleepy midwestern town of Columbus, Ohio. Expecting loud tailgate parties and country music in every corner, he's happy for a change from the city life. What he doesn't expect, is silence–the kind that hums through every empty street, every unplayed guitar, every bar that shuts its doors before sundown.
Years ago, a tragic accident led the town’s council and beloved priest Father Chris Joseph to ban loud music, parties, and unthinkably–dancing altogether. For Columbus, it became law. For the young, it became a cage, and Josh is having none of it. Never one to play by the rules, Josh stirs things up fast. His drumming, tattoos, and big-city slang, accent and energy clash with Columbus’s hushed traditions, and he doesn't think the town had anything for him...
until he meets the town reverend’s troubled, haunted, and seemingly attractive oldest son, Tyler Joseph.

Summary
“Are you staring at me while I sleep?”
He snapped out of it when he heard that voice.
His face flushed as he met Tyler’s half-awake eyes, and realized he was still touching his wrist.
He let go slowly, smiling awkwardly.“Just thinking.”
Tyler looked down at his own wrist, confused, still feeling the soft touch lingering there.
“Thinking about what?”
Josh stayed quiet for a moment.
He knew how sensitive this was, how Tyler hated the idea of having made him go through that pain.
But there was no point in hiding.“I was thinking about how happy I am that you’re here with me.
How far we’ve come.
And how glad I am that you’re alive.”
