Summary
Lorelai Extrum, fourteen, never quite understood the concept of a home. Even when she lived with her biological parents, the scraps of filth that they were, she never had anything that sounded like “home.” A couple of motels, a duplex, a wide variety of group homes and then foster homes that never lasted more than a couple of months to a year at most.
However, that all chances when two people, Arin Hanson and Suzy Berhow, decide to take a chance on her, despite the troubled past. They show her an entirely new world, one that is not covered in filth and grime and misery. But, when that troubled past comes to weave itself with her new life, will the bonds of their unconventional family continue to level up, or will it ultimately succumb to a brutal fatality?

A spinoff of CustardBattle's "Finding Some Kind of Normal". Your standard zombie apocalypse scenario. Highly recommended that you read the original piece first, but this could technically be understood as a standalone. Focuses on characters and relationships not explored in as much depth as others in the first story, because I'm a sucker for being unoriginal and talentless. This might end up gayer than intended, like everything else I write, but that's not really a surprise, now is it?
