A rewrite of V3 based on the idea that it the kids we see in V3 are class 79, the first class to attend the academy after being rebuilt by the survivors from DR1.

“Oh, right,” Monotaro chimes in. “He’s gotta explain the rules. What fun is a game without rules?”
“No fun at all!” A disembodied voice echoes throughout the gym, causing heads to whip back and forth to find the source.
At the far wall of the gym, something springs up from behind the podium on the stage, twisting and flipping in the air before landing on top of it with arms outstretched, like a gymnast nailing a landing. It’s another one of the strange little bears, one half white, and the other black with a sharp, glowing red eye and a menacing grin.
“Welcome, welcome, boys and girls,” it greets in a high voice, imitating a cartoon character meant for children. “Allow me to take a moment to spell out just exactly how your school lives will be from now on here at Hope’s Peak Academy. The sixteen of you will live out the rest of your lives here within the confines of this academy. No one in, no one out, unless…” It suddenly breaks into boisterous, maniacal laughter. “You sacrifice one of your classmates!” -

The world has ended. Again.
Following the Day of Hope’s End, the already despair-filled population has expanded to near total domination. Each day the scale between the sane and the insane shifts further and further towards the latter. The Remnants of Despair spread their misery far beyond the borders of the nation, and new factions with their own purposes only make things worse. The Bastion of Hope, obsessively dedicated to their talent-focused ideology, cause almost as much chaos as they help stop, but many see them as abject heroes. Other parties seek to use the apocalypse for their own means, be it for further chaos or for learning what makes the chaos happen.
Izuru Kamakura doesn’t care for any of it. Each of his days, traveling with Ultimate Empath in Training Kouji Mikami, is filled with only a singular thought for revenge against the woman who almost took everything from him again. But his increasing instability, and his newly awakened powers, could cause the world itself to shift in disastrous ways. And all sixteen of them, he declares, are going to stay there forever.
Naturally, if they want off this little pleasure cruise, well... Protest all they like, they're going to have to kill someone. It's as easy as that! And it’s not long before the body count starts piling up... Can any hope be found on this cruise ship of despair?
