Summary
Lawrence, Kansas, is a town where nothing changes. Football is king, church is mandatory, and everyone knows who you’re supposed to be — especially Dean Winchester. He’s got it all: varsity captain, a shiny smile, a girlfriend he barely remembers to text back, and a father who demands perfection. Dean’s learned to play his role — the golden boy, the good son — even when it feels like he’s suffocating under it.
Then a new kid shows up.
Castiel Shurley is quiet, strange, and far too composed for a seventeen-year-old. He wears his faith around his neck — literally — and never fights back, even when he’s cornered. To Dean, he’s an easy target. To everyone else, he’s just another church boy trying too hard to fit in.
But when teasing turns into tension, and tension turns into something Dean can’t quite name, the lines between right and wrong start to blur.
Castiel’s faith tells him love like this is a sin.
Dean’s father tells him it’s a disgrace.
And still, when the floodlights fade and the crowd goes home, neither of them can stop looking at each other. -

“So, Cas... Whaddaya say to a drive out tomorrow? Just us two, maybe out to the fields. I know this great spot with a lot of wild flowers and there’s this old oak, probably been right there for hundreds of years. It’s pretty secluded. You know” Miracle waggled his eyebrows, “very romantic.”
Dean wanted to tear him limb from limb.This time, it wasn’t even Dean’s fault; his only crime was needing a break. He didn’t have anything to do with waking up in Miracle's body. It was just as well; at least now he could spend a little time with his family without feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders. What he hadn’t considered in all of this: body-swapping went both ways. And Miracle seemed hell-bent on meddling with Dean’s life, bringing thoughts and feelings to light that Dean had tried his damnedest to forget.

For a while now, Dean has been having dreams… Well, okay, so maybe normal dreams don’t involve waking up in a cold sweat, nauseated and clammy but too hot all the same, feeling like an absolute piece of trash that’s been baking in an abandoned alley a few weeks too long. Maybe that makes them less dreams and more nightmares.
So, yeah.
Dean has been having nightmares, and those nightmares are usually about Cas.

"Thanks, Angel," Dean casually says as he plucks the open book from Castiel's hands.
Angel. It's a simple word, one he's used plenty of times before. Occasionally, he'd switch it out for Sunshine or Feathers or just plain Cas, constantly cycling through the nicknames as if he stayed on one too long, Castiel would notice.
They all started as a way to mock the angel, something that wasn't very hard to do, but quickly turned into more of an everyday routine. At this point, he doesn't even remember how Angel came to be, just that he knows it lost its original meaning a long time ago.
Dean watched amused as the angel—who had at this point heard him call him this a million times—furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and tilted his head in that little endearing way that always made Dean smile.
"You're welcome, Human?"
Dean couldn't help but chuckle as he took a seat across the table, placing the now closed book down in front of him. "All this time and you still don't get it, do you?”
