Sherlock’s eyes stung; he blinked. He nodded minutely, accepting. Toxic.
‘And I hate that I find myself wishing for any of it. Because you did leave. It’s done. But the thing is, you came back. For me. I . . . I don’t understand it, Sherlock. Why you did all those things—for me. But I know that, if you hadn’t, I’d be dead. One way or another. So for that, for the very reasons I hate you . . .’ He paused. His lips contorted, and he dropped his gaze again. He took a long breath and made himself lift his eyes again to find Sherlock’s. ‘I love you. More than I can say. More than I can hate. You need to know that.’
‘We’re okay,’ John whispered. ‘You and me.’ He kissed the top of Sherlock's head, rubbed his cheek into the curls. ‘We’re going to be okay.’
‘I’m so tired, John,’ said Sherlock.
‘I know. And it’s time to rest.’

"Even though John finally (mostly) forgave Sherlock for the hell he put him, Mrs. Hudson, Lestrade and Molly for The Fall, things of course, could not stay the same. And they most certainly could not stay the same after the wretched Charles Augustus Magnussen case. He was trying to be a proper husband to Mary again after their estrangement last year. He was also a practicing physician again. He couldn't go dashing off on some adventure whenever Sherlock beckoned and called.
Or so he tried to explain to Sherlock over and over again with zero to little effect..."
John reluctantly joins Sherlock to solve a case about serial bombings. Of course, nothing is what it seems. Especially when they end up saving the life of a woman whose secrets may end up killing them all ... In other words, a typical day at 221B Baker Street.
This particular fic is loosely (LOOSELY) based off of "The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist".
