    Jiang Cheng e Wei Wuxian avevano commentato come la parlata di Caiyi fosse così delicata da far sembrare gli alterchi un cortese e bonario scambio di opinioni. Tuttavia, le urla che esplosero d’improvviso alle loro spalle, facendo sobbalzare diversi discepoli d’altri clan assieme a tutti i ragazzi Lan, furono sguaiate, troppo ciecamente furibonde per mantenere una parvenza di decoro.

    Ad urlare era un uomo robusto. Dietro di lui, c'erano un carro vuoto e un grande blocco di ghiaccio, per lo più intatto, ma scheggiato in alcuni punti. Le sue urla erano quasi sconnesse nella loro frenesia. Tuttavia, rimaneva evidente cosa fosse accaduto: l'uomo stava trasportando quel ghiaccio per conto di qualcuno abbastanza ricco da poterselo permettere, un importante mercante o una famiglia nobile; sfortunatamente, si era scontrato con una ragazza e il prezioso carico era caduto nella polvere.

    Oppure: Wei Ying vive per aiutare le persone, i cittadini di Caiyi non sono pronti per lui e Lan Zhan è già senza speranza anche se ancora non lo sa.

    Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng had commented on how Caiyi’s speech was so delicate that it made altercations appear as polite, good-natured exchange of opinions. However, the screams that suddenly rose from behind them, startling several disciples from other clans and all the Lan boys, were vulgar, too blindly furious to maintain any semblance of decorum.

    The one shouting was a robust man. Behind him, an empty cart and a large block of ice, mostly intact, but cracked in places. His screams were almost disjointed in their frenzy. But it was still clear what had happened: the man was transporting that ice on behalf of someone rich enough to afford it, an important merchant or some noble family; unfortunately, he had collided with a girl, due to his or her carelessness, and the precious cargo had fallen into the dust.

    Or: Wei Ying lives to help people, The Caiyi’s citizens aren't ready for him, and Lan Zhan is already hopeless but doesn't know it.

    Jiang Cheng yanked a door open and darted inside.

    Slamming it shut, he slumped against it with a sigh of relief. Having to embarrass himself right in front of the Twin Jades this morning was horrible enough, but going up to his shared room with his brother at the inn in Caiyi Town only to hear the most mortifying noises coming from it was even worse. Jiang Cheng had a very shrewd idea of who exactly was in there with him, and he did not want to know any more about Lan Wangji than he had to.

    Jiang Cheng sighed, exhausted, his head hitting the door with a dull thunk.

    “Jiang Wanyin?” The voice was soft, and could only belong to one person. Oh no.
