Enis gradually and excruciatingly slowly got over the panicked pace his heartbeat took whenever he fed. He became numb to the process. Finding someone alone and disarmed, avoiding looking at their face and disfiguring it until he couldn’t see it even if he tried, then sinking his teeth into their neck was just his normal Tuesday now. Everything was fine, everything will always be fine.
Or, author takes Enis' whole "tearing people's faces off" shtick seriously. But he also has silly fun with his silly friends!
