(Sequel to my previous fanfic, 'As We Ponder Belief')
Having had their faith tried, tested, and transformed, (y/n) (l/n) and Gillen Beilschmidt have made the decision to leave Malbork Fortress---with Gillen even going so far as to renounce his vows. Trading his former life as a Teutonic Knight in favor of one with (y/n), the couple begin their journey to Österreich. With hopes of creating a future together far away from the warfront, the two plan to settle with Gillen's family. However, it seems the shadows of warfare have followed them along. As Gillen confronts his father and younger brother, he is forced to realize the full extent of the conflicts side-effects. Meanwhile, (y/n)---as a woman romantically entangled with a former Teutonic Knight---finds that perhaps the Holy Roman Empire isn't as welcoming to her as she had hoped.
