In the end of the world no one has time for anything other than survival, so you would think people would stick to themselves and their group, avoid putting themselves into danger as much as possible, right? Well not this time, he heard you talking about the things you missed most and as someone who thought he didn’t have much to offer (even if she would have argued otherwise) why wouldn’t he keep an eye out on the off chance he could find it?

Daryl heard you and the group talking about the things you missed most from before the world went to crap, and yours didn’t actually seem so far fetched (kinda like the convo by the lake in season 1). So Daryl decides to make it his goal to find it when he was out on his daily searches for Sophia. -

Val was basically a pile of bones when he found her alone in the woods. A scrawny little blonde with a metal collar around her neck, a thick chain hanging down from the side of it. He took her in and fought for her place among the others. He knew he had to protect her from the world and from herself, and he did just that. {Daryl X OC}
This story *mostly* follows the canonical timeline but there are quite a few changes to fit my own storyline.
