Summary
White just wanted to learn who put his Twin in a coma, but he gets way more than he bargained for when he decides to infiltrate his brother's pack posing as his twin. Not only are they pretty quick to figure out he is not Black, but White also gets drawn into their illegal but commendable fight for the rights of non-humans and other oppressed people. But it is not all that bad, and maybe he actually got exactly what he needed all along.
Yok has a pretty good life, despite the hardships; he has a pack that he loves and a mother he is very close to, he studies a subject that he enjoys and fights for what he believes in. But one night, he rescues a gorgeous stranger and can't stop thinking about him. Eager to learn more, he falls deeper and deeper for the other. Maybe it was fate, and maybe Yok didn't just save his life that night but Dan altogether.
Modern fantasy-Au of Not Me, follows canon for the most part with some obvious changes due to their species. I am using an Urban Fantasy setting I designed myself. The story is DanYok-centric, but every major character has POVs and is important, and all couples will have their stories told in some detail.

At a glance, White isn’t the typical punk rock type - she’s all soft pastels and bookish glasses and manicured nails and polite smiles. She looks like she belongs on a tennis court, not a dive bar. And honestly, it took White a while to get used to this kind of music. But hearing her twin sister’s gravelly voice after a decade of silence - growling about rebellion and justice, no less - something clicked into place, and White almost felt whole again.

Making a good first impression was never one of Shawna's strong suits, especially when meeting Black's sister—and her amazing rack—but they'll figure it out.

White hesitates. “It’s good to research all available avenues in order to have a well-rounded magical education.” He tucks his bag securely against his side. White’s whole stance turns more frigid and stiff, but maybe that’s just how White is. His eyes are guarded, bottomless pits of obsidian, but even in a pitch-black room Sean would search for a light. It makes Sean wonder what lies beneath the façade.
It's funny: Vulnerability is the last thing Sean wants people to see in him, but it is the first thing he looks for in White.
It’s not easy to get into the famous magic school, Kraduk Academy, especially if you’re Sean Bawongittacha. Though as school begins, Sean finds that the mystery of his spark is only the start of uncovering a legacy of lies that haunts the bones of this academy.

But as days and weeks passed, it was no longer only the look in his eye or the way he wore his hair that changed. The new Black stopped coming over. He no longer appeared unannounced late at night and borrowed his clothes to then fall asleep next to Gram. Instead, the new Black stopped smoking and stopped bruising his fists. The new Black started opening up. The new Black joked with Yok and listened to Gumpa’s advice. The new Black shared rooms with Sean. He couldn’t understand it. He was growing closer to everyone around him, but drifting away from Gram.
So when Black came over to study, Gram couldn't help but purposefully take off his shirt, stretching his lean body over his bed, angling his hips so that the light hit his happy trail, even when he knew about Eugene. But Black’s eyes didn’t drift; they were unwavering. And instead he brought up Sean, Sean, Sean, and it felt like Gram had already lost him. And when he told him he was going to meet Sean, Gram let him. He let him although he had never come and not stayed the night. He let him although it felt like every part of him was slipping through his fingers.
Or: Gram before, during and after losing his best friend, and then a piece of himself along the way.
