There’s a lot more personality in Bucky now; he’s taken to buying breathable long-sleeved shirts that still let him disguise the metal arm instead of bulletproof jackets and hoodies all the time. Surprisingly, no one in Australia seems concerned about the fact only one sleeve is ripped off. Modern fashion, and all that. He’s not interested in wearing purple, which is a little disappointing.

He’s also not interested in going back to the States.

“Hey,” Bruce said, looking worried, “did Thor seem off to you, too?”
Clint, however, was thinking about something entirely different. “That cat is totally Loki.”

Steve stared at the ceiling, glazed yet somehow despairing look on his face. “I might not know exactly how, but you’ve somehow managed to convince me that Thor’s new cat is Loki, despite a complete lack of any evidence whatsoever.”
Fist-pumping, Clint let out a quiet cheer.

Or: Clint is on a mission to prove that Thor's new cat is actually Loki in disguise.

"Hello, Mister Barton. May I come in?"

Clint looked Captain America up and down before replying, "Come back with a warrant."
    ~!~
Clint Barton owns an apartment building he definitely legally acquired, and he has absolutely no reason to avoid any of the Avengers. Weirdly, his new next door tenant with a fake name and a bad haircut also doesn't have any reason to avoid any of the Avengers.

The new guy is weird, but not in a bad way. He's weird in the way that makes Clint want to stick around and resist falling for him (as long as no world renowned super powerful agencies step in their way).

Clint Barton likes his tenants. Sure, there’s some he knows more than others, which is how all neighborships go, but he definitely has his favorites, the ones who he ends up talking to the most whenever they have their rooftop cookouts. Simone and her two boys were right underneath his apartment, then across from them was Aimee and her girlfriend Clint can never remember the name of. Diagonal to them and one floor down was Grills, who was the next door neighbors with Deke. Another floor down and two doors to the left was his partner in crime, Kate Bishop, and once again, across the hall were the Parkers. The Parkers were an absolute Godsend. Since Clint is the clumsiest person on Earth, May frequently uses her nursing skills to patch him back up without the sky high medical bills that he definitely couldn’t pay. When Ben was still alive, he brought Clint random baked goods because they knew he wasn’t eating enough. Their nephew, Peter, was the smartest kid Clint’s ever met, and this led to him helping Clint fix things around the building quite often since the blonde is the least handy guy known to humankind (he’s almost electrocuted himself to death at least four times trying to fix various things). After Ben died, Peter went on an absolute binge of fixing absolutely everything he could get his hands on for about two months. One night he fully stole Clint’s favorite hearing aids (he only had two, but dammit, they’re purple) and fiddled with them. Clint was mad until he put them in and realized he could actually hear more than he was usually able to. The same day, he brought his second pair to Peter and asked him to do the same thing to them. So, before Clint spent the money on an actual elevator technician, he offered Peter fifty bucks and a twenty-five dollar McDonald’s gift card to fix it. Besides, what was he going to do? Make it worse? Perhaps, though, Clint should’ve warned their newest neighbor about the boy genius, because now he’s standing in his door frame once again at way too early of an hour (six am). And who was across from him except James Dugan, but this time with a mildly nervous Peter Parker? “Hey, Peter. You okay?” Peter nodded quickly, fiddling with his fingers like a child who just got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. Clint turned his focus back to James, long hair now pulled back to reveal a quite impressive jawline, but still wearing long sleeves and a single glove. The fuck was up with this guy? “Whatcha need, James?” The man was clearly taken aback by the casual conversation between Peter and Clint, but soldiered on and said, “I, uh, I was coming back from a morning jog and, well, this kid was tampering with the elevator panel on the bottom floor.” Clint couldn’t help it. He snorted, covering his mouth before any more laughs spilled out. He composed himself before introducing, “Peter, this is James Dugan, he just moved in right next to me. James, this is Peter Parker. He’s the smartest kid I know. I told him to take a crack at the elevator.” “Oh,” James stated plainly. Subconsciously, it seems, he bowed his head slightly. “I apologize, Peter. It’s nice to meet you.” “Oh, no problem Mr. Dugan! I probably looked really suspicious,” Peter chuckled nervously. “I promise I’m pretty good with machines, though!”After a few attempts (due to James’ mumbling), Clint made out the question. ‘ How trustworthy is that Parker kid? ’ “Peter? Oh, I’d trust the kid with my life, no exaggeration. Why?” James hesitated, bare hand coming to play with the edge of his single glove. Clint inwardly sighed. “Alright, this feels like a big conversation, I’m gonna go grab my aids real quick.” Clint climbed inside his window, poured his long-since-cooled ‘hot’ chocolate down the drain, slipped in his ears, and narrowly avoided Lucky chasing him out onto the fire escape. “Alrighty, all eared up and ready to listen- oh, wow.” James had shed his dark sweatshirt and glove, revealing a silver prosthetic arm with gnarly scarring where it met the skin of his shoulder. A chain led down from his neck to the inside of his thin tank top, and Clint was pretty sure the shape was that of dog tags. Clint feels guilty for calling him a weird guy. Of course he was paranoid and awkward, he was a traumatized war veteran. God, he’s kinda an asshole, isn’t he? James grimaced awkwardly. “I know it’s not the most appealing thing to look at-” “Oh, no, it’s fine! Just, not what I was expecting. God damn, that must’ve been expensive, I didn’t even know they made prosthetics like this-” “They, uh, don’t exactly . I was a part of a… testing group for the arm. Since then, the program has stopped, so I can’t even go anywhere for it, but the hand’s not been workin’ as well as it should. And, if that Parker kid is as good as you say, and if he won’t tell anyone about it, I might ask him to look at it.”
