Well Alexander Conklin makes a call to bring Clint back in but not in Medusa instead into the Treadstone 71st program to kill Carlos the Jackal.
In bringing Clint back into the fold Clint finds out the Jackal is hunting his brother. So it's a race against time and his team to find Barney before the Jackal does. And in failing that. Killing the Jackal. His mind already fractured from Medusa and Loki's actions this might be the final push of his sanity.
Coulson freshly out of the hospital and physical therapy now is in a race against time. Find Barton before he gets himself killed.
