Have I already summarized this whole story in the tags? Maybe, maybe not. I'll just lay it out a little more clearly, here: Tony and Pepper are a typical upper-middle class couple, in a typical suburb, sometime in the early 70's. Tony's job is good enough, and Pepper's life is good enough, but when the rest of the world is experimenting sexually, they decide that they want to as well. This brings them to a pair living on the streets downtown, and that brings them to some new relationships, and some pain for all involved.
Normally I like a really specific setting, but for this story, not so much. Picture the neighborhood from Edward Scissorhands, and you will have a pretty good idea where this story is taking place. Or, if you know the song "Little Boxes," by Malvina Reynolds? ...Anyway, here's the story.

Mentioned in a few conversations between Steve and Bucky during Winter is Coming, this is a side-fic that takes place entire during world war ii, after Bucky's time in the prison camp after the battle of Azzano...
After receiving intelligence on French scientists being taken prisoner around Nazi-occupied France, the Howling Commandos go in to rescue the scientists/spies, while Bucky is sent into the heart of enemy territory to extract their informant. He doesn't have much to go on, and the entire mission is threatened when he becomes involved with a beautiful French courtesan.

It was done, he told himself. Whatever change had occurred in the timeline, it was already in the past, irreversible as any other event. And after all, he’d known Marty for only a week. It was irrational to think of him as a friend. It was wildly irrational, to mourn something that had never existed.
After hearing about the birth of the McFly family's second daughter, Doc Brown can only conclude that the worst has happened and that Marty has somehow been erased from time. He resigns himself to being alone, but when he crosses paths with the new McFly kid he can't help but make a friend.
