An older version of Moiraine sits upon a chair so ornate the wood it’s carved out of is a mere suggestion underneath the weight of all the gold leaf. On closer inspection Siuan realizes the golden shine comes from the wood itself. The craftsmanship is wondrous yet — for some reason — her cheeks grow wet with tears.
A banner hangs behind the chair. The sunburst embroidered on it frames Moiraine’s head like an echo of saidar, the suggestion of a crown. This must be Cairhien’s throne, then.
