Poolside declarations and the whisper of fingertips along her naked spine in ’41 are weak barriers against the tidal wave of anxiety thrashing against her sternum. There are very few things that Lucy knows that could offset Wyatt and push him over the line of Jekyll and into Hyde.

Summary
Ambo leaves the scene before they do, as they get another call. They report back to 51 half an hour later. Casey’s still on the apparatus floor when Ambo backs in fifteen minutes after that. He starts to approach. He’s not sure what he plans to say to Brett but the need to talk to her is strong. He’s a few steps away when Roman approaches from the open garage door. Sylvie’s face brightens but he sees a fair bit of awkwardness behind her eyes too.
Roman looks to be feeling it as well judging by the way he hems and haws.
Matt’s brow furrows and he decides, shamefully, not to announce his presence just yet.

Sylvie drives him to his appointment on Friday morning.
She sits with him in the waiting room as he fills out pointless paperwork he’s filled out a million times before. He expects her to pick out a magazine and tune him out. Her presence is enough moral support on it’s own. But she surprises him. She tucks her purse between their stiff arm chairs and leans back to study his expression curiously.
“It’s gonna be okay, Matt,” she says, wincing as he clicks the cheap retractable pen the lady at the front desk gave him for at least the twentieth time.
“Yeah,” he replies with a thick swallow and unconvincing waiver in his voice.

Summary
She texted Greg before shift with the hopes of meeting up when they were both off work, but he never replied. She assumed that would be the end of it. To her surprise, about an hour after she arrived home he finally replied.
“We should talk.”
No more, no less. She definitely agreed so she texted back to ask when and where. She at least wanted the chance to apologize.

Summary
It’s extremely hard to wake up early when you don’t even want to get out of bed. But, as cozy as she is, she doesn’t exactly have a choice.
That’s what happens when you impulsively knock on Matt Casey’s door at quarter after midnight and proceed to jump his very sturdy bones. She curls further into Matt’s side as his alarm goes off and buries her face in the crook of his neck.
He makes a groggy sound that is partially a huff but mostly a groan and then lazily swipes at his phone screen — putting an end to the shrill ringing.
She yawns against his bare shoulder and then whines pathetically. “I should go before Stella wakes up and makes me late with all her questions.”
“I’ve got a wild idea,” Matt says, voice still hoarse with sleep. His arm tightens around her waist as he rests his chin against the top of her head. “What if we...ditch work and stay right here. In our bubble of safety.”
“Both the PIC and the Captain skip work?” She asks, grinning in surprise and lifting one brow at him. “That’s shockingly rebellious of you.”

Summary
When he reaches the app floor, there’s a woman standing just outside the bay doors. He doesn’t recognize her at all. She’s older, probably in her early sixties, and has long silver hair. Her posture is folded in as she fidgets nervously. Just as he’s heading toward the door that leads outside, she bolts. Shaking her head, she speed walks away from the house. He tries to catch up to her, but she’s in her car and pulling into traffic before he can make it across the apron.
Brow furrowing, he scratches the back of his neck in confusion and stares after her for a lingering moment. Finally, he heads back inside and finds Capp as he’s finishing his breakfast.
“The woman who was here, did she give you a name or a number? Maybe a card?”
Capp shakes his head. “No, just asked to speak with Captain Casey. I told her I’d send you out.”
“Okay, thanks, Capp,” he says, disappointment etched into the lines of his face.

Summary
"As he walked over to his bed to flop down on it and leave his worries till the morning, he froze halfway there, seeing a small but familiar figure lying in the middle with her head on his pillow and her arms wrapped underneath it. He smiled softly at her. God, he missed her. He missed having his best friend and his guiding light to remind him that no matter what challenges would come their way, they would figure it out together."
Matt returns from his trip away to the welcoming arms of Sylvie.
