Summary
Why was he even here? He wasnt academically gifted in any sense of the word, and yet, Mollymauk Tealeaf had his application accepted. To be the assistant to the top Professor of the Academy no less. He just hoped that he could fulfil the duties that would be required of him. If in doubt, Mollymauk knew that he had the gift of the gab, and could just pretend to know more than he actually did. It worked usually, especially around stuffy old academics that would visit him late at night.
So why was he so nervous to mess up?

What do you do when you can't do anything?
When a sabotaged lesson plan infects Caleb, his colleagues, and their students with a rare and deadly disease, there is little to do but wait for a team of researchers to try and find a cure. But then, each moment seems an insurmountable task--avoid panic, take care of one another, manage their worsening symptoms, figure out who or what may have caused it, and stay alive long enough for medicine to be created.
There is something all too familiar about being locked in a Soltryce tower, trusting people who can't be trusted, and hoping death won't find you before morning.

Summary
Ever since he had first sat in on one of Caleb’s lectures at the Soltryce Academy, Essek has been drawn to the way Caleb holds himself when he’s sharing the knowledge he has learned the hard way. There’s a confidence in Caleb that comes naturally to the surface. He is commanding, methodical, and takes care that those who are present get what they need from him.
Essek’s not sure he’s ever been more attracted to Caleb than when he first sat in the lecture hall trying to hide how he was lusting after Professor Widogast.
Or: When your partner confesses to you how turned on he was to see you in your element as a professor, you work with him to find a way to recreate it via sexual roleplay in your magical demiplane wizard tower as you discuss and show the practical sexual applications of dozens of spells to your adult “students” who are nothing more than a Programmed Illusion.

The Bright Queen's Royal Court Gala, an annual party hosted by the Queen and reported on by the news, casted its invitations. Essek was horrified to discover Caleb was not just expected to go because he was Essek's partner, he was invited. Which meant declining wasn't an option. Caleb's attendance, for some foreboding reason, was mandatory.
What's worse? The Bright Queen wants to speak to the professor. Privately.Series

A simple accident.
That's all that caused this. One simple slip of the hand.

Molly was then speaking up again, “I want to go to the Winter’s Crest markets as well.”
“Markets?” Essek frowned.
“You’ll love the markets.” Molly rolled over to look at his lover, “The food, the wines, the little homemade gifts. It’ll be nice to actually afford something.”
Caleb gave him a soft smile, his thumbs smoothing across Molly’s cheekbones. “A market visit sounds like a lovely idea… it’ll be cold though.”

Summary
Caleb and Essek had many goals for their anniversary trip to Molaesmyr. Discover the cause of the corruption, stop it if they could, uncover what led up to the fall of the city, reach the center tower, investigate the labyrinth beneath Molaesmyr, find the crystal well hidden inside; if they completed just one of those goals, they'd be satisfied with their work. Not overjoyed, but satisfied.
They hadn't expected to solve a centuries old mystery about the Mad Mage of Wildemount.Series

Summary
Caleb lets the hand reaching for components fall heavy on a knuckle, knocking solidly on wood and holding it there. The sound echoes through the silence, into Essek’s bones.
“Clearly you are aware, arcanist, that a major point of holding these seminars is to receive feedback from our peers. While I am... grateful for your input, I’d ask that further questions be-”
“The ‘point’ of a lecture is to teach what you know, not throw half-baked theory at the audience to see what sticks! I’m honestly sick and tired of unschooled, untrained wizards waltzing in here to- to pontificate to their betters under the guise of arcane discovery!”
Caleb’s hand is still on the table, expression carefully neutral. “...Are you finished?”
Essek learns something new about himself while attending his partner's presentation.

Summary
Professor Widogast has had a very long day. His partner helps him unwind and realize how loved he is.
Caleb hums in agreement, then settles his cheek against Essek’s thigh. He focuses, situates his mouth and jaw, then relaxes. His eyes fall closed. This is his favorite part, the sinking into simple servitude. All his material components are in his coat, discarded on its hook. His mouth is delightfully, achingly, beautifully full. There is a ring on one of his fingers that could be used as a focus, but he reaches his arms up and grasps Essek’s thighs. Material, verbal, and at last, somatic. An offering: I am now useless in all but this way. Use me.

Summary
Essek, Caleb, and Astrid have an unconventional arrangement where everyone gets what they need.
There is a new book on the table. New to Essek, at least. Its leather cover is scuffed, but the gilt embossed border speaks to a certain level of expense. More than that, it’s the discolored edges of the parchment that catch his eye. They’re uneven, aged.
He hangs up his light outer robe, stacks his shoes by the door, and dispels his disguise. It is a relief to see his own hands again. He is walking, but his footsteps hardly make a sound. He approaches the table, runs a finger across the beautiful cover. There is a harsh crack that echoes from upstairs, but he does not flinch. -

Summary
Two years after the not-so-legendary Mighty Nein parted ways, Caleb is teaching Transmutation for the Soltryce Academy and enjoying a quiet life in Rexxentrum. With a two week vacation coming up for the Winter's Crest holiday, he'd planned on spending his time catching up on some recreational reading and enjoying the company of the Brenatto family. Except a certain blue Tiefling also seems to be back from sea, something he was very much NOT aware of. After having minimal contact with Jester the past year, the Zemnian can't seem to remember how he ever used to hide his feelings for her.

Summary
The chaos of the holidays were over, but that left a new chaos in its wake: getting the research proposal to explore Molaesymr approved. Essek and Caleb were surprised to find that the approval process, once they submitted their proposals, also had some unexpected bonuses for them, like Essek finding out he loved the tranquil beauty of Blumenthal in the spring, Caleb discovering that he had a propensity to irritate his boyfriend and then say sweet romantic things to try and get out of trouble, and the pair deciding they wanted to move in together.
