It is these qualities that helped him rise to the rank of lieutenant in Lynx Gang, and he is now one of the infamous Ash Lynx's best men, alongside Lynx Gang's savvy second-in-command, Alex, and his best buddy in the whole world, the tough but tender-hearted Kong.

There's an almost perverse satisfaction to this—entirely different than the perverse satisfaction that their new friend the Clubgoing Middle-Aged White Cisgender Wannabe-Dominant Man is seeking, of course, but still there.
After all, Ash gets front row seats to this spectacle. He gets to see firsthand Max's complete inability to remain calm and appropriately handle a situation that was commonplace for Ash by the time he was ten. It's funny.
Right up until the douchebag lumbers forward, reaching for Max to pull him into a very one sided kiss. It gets a lot less funny after that.
Before his hands can land on Max, Ash steps fully between the two of them, his pistol trained on the guy's brainless skull. "Wanna rethink that one for me, sweetheart?" Ash purrs.
With plans to scope out a nightclub that's reportedly been associated with Foxx, Ash and Max meet up at the bar of the club. Max finds himself several drinks in, and then finds himself in some trouble as well.

He was completely lost with no direction, frantically searching for what would take them onto the next step of this scavenger hunt for the truth that would set him free, or completely destroy him.
He couldn’t predict the future; all he knew was that this was his chance, and there wouldn’t be another one, to get out. He also knew that he was playing with fire, that he could be burned any second, and it could all fall apart in the blink of an eye.

Ash requires all the best fighters in Lynx Gang for a turf war, so someone else besides Kong and Bones are assigned to watch Eiji for the day. However, not everyone in the gang is as enamoured with the little foreigner as Ash clearly is, and his temporary caretakers don't exactly hide their displeasure at being given babysitting duties.
Eiji, frustrated by this, sets out to prove his worth and show everyone that he's not as useless as they (and even he at times) think.

"I remember my mother vaguely. I have small, distant memories of her, and it is like she is a ghost in my mind, not fully real or present." Ash paused, his chest tightening. "I remember what it was like after she left, though." He stared into the distance, his mind filling yet again with intrusive memories of a darker time. it was hard when so much of his life had been darker times; this happened often. Something his therapist had told him, though, was to push through it instead of avoiding it, by talking about it. Eiji encouraged that as well, so he fought the urge to run, to hide, to freeze, and let Eiji continue to ask him questions about matters which caused a sharp pang to pierce through his heart.
"I know that when I lost my dad it was hard. I can't imagine the impact it must have had on you at such a young age, Ash," Eiji squeezed his hand, but Ash didn't make eye contact. This was hard enough without that.
"Yeah, it's weird. I guess I never really got the chance to know her, you know? And yet, she is one of the people in the world that I miss the most,"
