In the world that remains, society has completely shifted thanks to the presence of the Hollows and the resources found within them called Ether Crystals. These crystals expanded the limits of what was thought to be possible, giving humans abilities they could previously only dream of and as a result, a fighting chance against the Ethereals. There was only one small issue however.
Only women can be granted powers by Ether.
As a result, men are seen as… unnecessary in the grand scheme of things. They are still citizens of society, go to school, and even hold down jobs, but none could hope to hold any kind of authority or greater relevance in the world that remained.
