“You—you’re a—” Quentin’s eyes snap shut, as though reality might reshape itself into something that actually makes any fucking sense when he opens them. Nope. No such luck. “You’re a priest.”
Silence stretches a chasm between them until, finally: “I’m not a priest.”
(After surviving the monster, Quentin and Eliot drifted apart. Five years later, Quentin ventures into the Fillorian wilderness to find his old friend.)

Summary
By the time Eliot is back in his body and is released from the infirmary, Quentin is still asleep.
No, not asleep. Quentin is still in a coma. And Eliot put him there. The horrifying part, the part that pierces into him like barbed wire around his heart, his lungs, his abused liver... the part that makes him feel like he's made of electrical fencing, is that he remembers all of it.
He remembers every mark the Monster made on Quentin: every cut, every puncture, every punch, every burn. He remembers the feel of Quentin's bones breaking under the grip of his hands. He remembers the taste of Quentin's blood, as the Monster dragged Eliot's tongue over the open wounds he had imprinted into Quentin's skin with a shard of glass. He remembers the sounds Quentin made, broken moans and agonized cries. He remembers the choking and retching when Quentin started coughing up blood, and he remembers Quentin begging, begging for Eliot to wake up, to please wake up so the Monster couldn't hurt him anymore.

The Monster took Quentin hostage and tortured him for a month. The boys both have a lot of healing to do.

Fresh from a breakup with Alice and armed with a new apartment and a therapist, Quentin reluctantly moved on with his life.
‘Twas the night before Christmas Eve when Eliot stepped back through the portal from Fillory after many long months spent worlds apart. And this time, he had a plan to set everything right.

Post S4 Christmas special. Mutual pining, idiots to lovers. After Eliot is unpossessed, he leaves to Fillory without a look back and Quentin is...disappointed. He had gotten his hopes up after "Peaches and plums motherfucker!" but when Eliot made no move, and just abandoned him...He moves out of the penthouse, trying to find his own footing without constantly looking at the Fillory Clock, waiting for Eliot to come back for him. When the Fillory gang arrive for the holidays, Eliot makes an appearance. They slip right into their easy banter, and when faced with the man himself, he remembers quite clearly how in love with Eliot he is, and how much that hurts. Eliot plans a series of events to make it Quentin's best Christmas ever, and as their reestablished friendship blooms into flirting, Quentin is desperate to know where they stand. An ill advised hook up is cut short when Quentin's anger and hurt over not only the rejection, but the abandonment bubble over, and when Eliot has nothing to say, he storms out. He wonders if they have broken their relationship beyond repair when a gift from Santa and Margo's no bullshit attitude convinces him to reach out, one last time. Third time's the charm, right?
