Summary
Buck opens Eddie’s eyes about the lopsided nature of their friendship. Eddie sincerely apologizes and promises to do better, including going to therapy and finally taking it seriously. While feelings are exchanged, Buck sets firm boundaries by refusing to start a romantic relationship before trust is rebuilt in their friendship.
Eddie’s parents are furious about Chris and Eddie's decision to move back to LA and have a huge blowout when they go back to El Paso to pack up the house and put it on the market. Chris calls his grandparents out on their toxic behavior. Eddie finally gains the courage to stand up to his parents once and for all.

Eddie, mouth full of hot chocolate and in the process of handing the mug back to his grandmother begins to choke and wheeze. The comforting liquid - that wasn’t currently choking him - dribbles down his chin and onto the quilt he’s tucked around himself to keep the winter chill at bay.
“Abuela!” He manages between heaving breaths, pulling at the hem of his shirt and wiping his face. “Jesus Christ!”

When Eddie returned from El Paso with his father’s promise to try and do better, get to know his son, and make a future where they exist peacefully in each other’s lives, he wasn’t holding his breath on Ramon following through with it. It was to Eddie’s guarded delight that his father was trying, incrementally, to get to know his son. He is trying to get to know his son, and Eddie couldn’t be happier.
