Summary
The weekend of Halley’s Comet, Val Jennings is brimming with news. But she keeps it to herself as she stocks Dale’s fridge and does his washing on Saturday morning. Adam Lindell, living openly as a homosexual. She’s never felt such relief. She’d always known Dale hadn’t committed any crime—except that against nature. And well, he’d been young. Confused and lonely after the death of his father—and her own tailspin following that loss. She’ll never get over the guilt.
Work is going so well for Dale—despite his nerves his first time live on the desk! He’s doing better with live reporting—look at that live cross on Halley’s Comet from yesterday! But she knows what a nervous and sensitive young man he is. (All the more easy for that Adam to get his hooks into him!) The last thing she wants is to distract him with a reminder of the worst time in his life, even to share the vindication of his reputation.
So, she won’t mention it on his Saturday. After all, what difference could one weekend make?

Summary
It is 1986. Louis sees a TV news broadcast while waiting for a connecting flight.
He buys a ticket to Melbourne, intent on asking Lestat what the hell he thinks he's up to pretending to be a news reporter.
Meanwhile, Dale Jennings has no idea what's about to come hurtling through his front door in the middle of the night.
Please note - this story was written and completed before S2 of IWTV aired, so the timeline from The Vampire Chronicles was used and not the new timeline established in the show. [I realise this would be confusing otherwise to anyone starting to read the fic since S2 was shown].

Summary
Tim thought he had dropped the subject there to get back to work when Dale said, without warning and in his best impression of a sultry, golden-age starlet, “You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together and… blow.”
“Oh, that one,” Tim said calmly, coming within inches of rear-ending the car in front of them.
Dennis and Rob have an office bet that Dale can't score an interview with his celebrity crush. Tim is determined to help prove them wrong by any means necessary.

Summary
Inspired from what Charlie Pickering says at the start of every episode of the Weekly ("i watch all the news so that you don't have to") and I just thought you know what? Noelene would think that's a pretty good idea for the sports news but obviously it would take a bit to convince sport nut Rob Rickards...

Summary
Crossover between the Newsreader and football to show the backstory of Rob Rickards, sports news reader at News At Six.
The Echuca area is in the Goulburn Valley zone which is the Melbourne demons' recruiting area. Unfortunately for Rob, St Kilda's recruiting zone was Ballarat. Using a character from the Newsreader to highlight what it was like for aspiring footballers in the 1970's/80's probably isn't the best idea (why didn't I just do a backstory on Peter Moore lol), but maybe this could be a several chapter thing where Rob ends up catching the eye of Lindsay Cunningham.

Happy boxing day/first day of Easter!!!!
I know that it was only recently that hot cross buns came on sale on boxing day, but I can't remember when or how or why so here's a fic in which the idea came about in the 1980's from a very intelligent source who will get a statue of himself and become a legend for many millenia.

“So, what’s the verdict?”
The hand holding the thermometer pulled it away from the patient’s forehead, and a set of soft blue eyes examined the little screen behind locks of messy golden hair.
“Hmmm… not very good. You’re 38 degrees. And according to the box,” the other hand reached for the packaging and reread the directions. “Ah! Yep! ‘Any temperature over 37.5 degrees Celsius, medical attention should be sought.’ You’re definitely staying home today.”
.
A one off in which Helen’s been up all night and her temperature has been so high; but she won’t have to rely on just herself for health and happiness. -

“Can you hear them?
They talk about us
Telling lies
Well, that's no surprise
Can you see them?
See right through them
They have no shield
No secrets to reveal
Doesn't matter what they say
In the jealous games people play
Hey, hey, hey
Our lips are sealed.”
