For Liu Qingge, no price is too high to pay to save his martial brother. A hostage, the proud War God of Bai Zhan surrenders his mind, body, and the last shreds of his dignity to the malevolent demon lord Zhuoyan-jun, enemy of Luo Binghe.
Will Luo Binghe ever come to his rescue as Zhuoyan-jun anticipates? After inadvertently gotten rid of the pesky fly buzzing around to get his Shizun? Unlikely.

Everything changes yet stays exactly the same leaving Luo Binghe in an unsettling state of unknowing.
Liu Qingge does not help. If anything he makes it worse. Chipping away at the pebbles of Luo Binghe’s sanity with every late night visit to his bed chamber in and out of huxian form.
What's worse is the silence. His shishu offers no verbal explanation or excuses, just carries on as if Luo Binghe knew all along. When questioned he levels Luo Binghe with a long thoughtful look, peerless face frighteningly blank, but never responds beyond a quiet ‘mn’. Luo Binghe hates being left in the dark.

The ‘vixen’ - Luo Binghe assumed it was a vixen since he’d never heard nor seen anything about a male huli jing - scampers off the moment he steps in her direction, diving off the sill and disappearing into the bushes below.
