Summary
Soap doesn’t remember the ambush outside Prague. He doesn’t remember the medevac, the surgery, or the two weeks he spent in a coma. What he does remember is Ghost’s face when he wakes, sitting at his bedside like he hasn’t moved in days.
Turns out, Ghost’s been listed as his “next of kin.” Which is strange, because Soap doesn’t remember marrying his lieutenant, either. However, hospitals only allow family to stay overnight, and Ghost wasn’t about to leave.
Now, as Soap learns to walk again, Ghost helps him eat, move, and stay awake. It’s supposed to be just for practicality and convenience.
But there’s nothing practical about the way Ghost looks at him or the way Soap looks back.
Recovery is messy. So is pretending not to care.
Or: Soap survives the gunshot, and Ghost pretends to be his husband so he can take care of him

Summary
Talk to him, they said. Well, Ghost’s never been good at talking. So he sits. Picks up one of the scattered pens, and begins to write.
Dear Johnny.***
Adrift in a sea of grief and helplessness, Ghost discovers Soap's journal and the surprising amount of writing that Soap had kept hidden away. He decides to take a leaf from his Sergeant's book (literally) and write down everything he could never say.

Summary
“Alex Keller,” he offered. “Here for a stretch. Training liaison.”
Soap blinked. The name hit. The grin slipped, reformed, edged with something closer to disbelief. “You’re Alex.”
Alex only lifted a shoulder. “Last I checked.”
The sergeant scrubbed a hand through his damp hair. “Bloody hell. Price’ll have kittens. You’re next door?”
Alex let the corner of his mouth twitch. “Looks that way.”
For the first time, Soap looked faintly unsettled. Not in any real way, but the smile sat too tight, the ease just slightly off. “Well. Hope you’re a sound sleeper, mate. Walls are thin.”
So that was Soap. He was just as the reports and Price suggested. And rattled, maybe, by nothing more than the man next door.

Summary
What becomes of life when everything you know is upended?
But what if everything you know is hardly worth clinging onto?
John MacTavish inherits a farmhouse in a dead-end village out of the city and returns to it out of obligation more than hope. Quiet, rundown, and half-forgotten, it seems like the right place to disappear into while he 'grieves,' away from prying eyes and pitying shoulder-claps. But he’s seen something he shouldn’t have. And someone’s been sent to fix it.
The Ghost is a man who does what he’s told. Efficient, careful, and long past believing in anything else, he’s not meant to think twice. So it rattles him, when the job goes south.
It doesn't take long to find that it's easy to run, when you never loved what you're leaving behind. And easier still, when you've got someone to run with.

He’s accepted that he’ll never be a soldier again - not unless someone finds a way to magically fix his fucked knee. But he finds himself caught up in more than he imagined when he meets a mysterious man that won't show John his face, but seems to be known by everyone regardless. John quickly realizes that the closer he becomes to the man, the more danger his life is in.
He's always been a thrill-seeker.

Summary
After a brutal mission leaves Soap sidelined with an injury, he’s stuck recovering at Ghost’s place. An arrangement neither of them planned for. Ghost isn’t exactly the nurturing type, but he's willing to try for Soap. Days pass in a blur of quiet moments, dry humor, and the occasional argument over whether or not Soap can walk on his own (he can’t, but that doesn’t stop him from trying).
Between the unspoken care, the small glimpses of Ghost’s life outside the battlefield, and the weight of everything they don’t say, Soap starts to see a different side of the man behind the mask. And maybe, just maybe, Ghost lets him.

Summary
Simon watched Johnny sit back against the cart. Then snap, cackling and letting out the most manic battle yell. Then yelling “DON’T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! YOU CAN’T KILL ME! DON’T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! I AM JOHN THE KINGSLAYER! I AM JOHN THE KINGSLAYER! YOU CAN’T KILL ME!! YOU WILL DIE COWARDS!!” Then let out that maddening chuckle and yell again. Smiling as blood coated his face. All the while brandishing his axe. Indicating both them and himself and staring them down.
