Everything all right?” he asked, trying and failing to speak in a casual tone as his eyes looked into Kabru's with concern. “I'm asking because,” he explained, furrowing his brow, “yesterday, it seemed like you were kind of out of it. It worried me a little. You said that you'd tell me about it later, but then you never did, so... I wasn't sure if I should bring it up, but if I don't,” he explained, rubbing his temple, “it's gonna bother me.”
Kabru's body went stiff, his fork frozen midway to his mouth. Ah. That situation. He'd assumed that Laios would have forgotten all about it. Perhaps he should have known better than that. Once Laios got it into his head that something was wrong, he would not leave it unresolved. Even if it would be for the better if he did. Kabru dismissively waved his hand, forcing a carefree smile. “What? Oh, that! That was nothing, nothing at all, don't worry about it!” he insisted, lightly shaking his head. “I got a little lost in my own thoughts, is all. I'm sorry to have worried you.”
