Summary
King Dastan has just married Tamina and gained control of a people he has no idea how to rule. The Persians are after gold, and power, the Alamutions after gods and prayer. He is trying to find a way to help the people but is so lost. He cries out to the Persian gods with only silence in return. Eventually he goes before the gods who control the sands of time, asking for their help to be a good and fair king. The gods see his humble heart and gift him with a see-er to aid as council on their behalf. She is a pure creation of the gods and more beautiful than any man has ever seen. With time, it soon takes all of Dastan's honor to not corrupt her in ways that the gods hadn't planned for.

Summary
Dastan was born with wings and his parents died taking him to Alamut when he was three. Tamina vowed to protect him, but when Perisans attack the peaceful city, Dastan is discovered and taken away from his protecter.

As one, they pressed down on the jewel and had to hold on tight as sand shot out in a flurry, whirling around them in a raging storm. Tamina stumbled close, Dastan’s grip never faltering on either her or the dagger.
OR
Tamina doesn't fall to her death in the past. Instead, she and Dastan defeat Nizam and press the dagger in the Sandglass to reverse time. This will be a collection of one-shots centered around their relationship in the new timeline

If this had ever become a complete fic, it would have been an epic fix-it modern AU featuring EMT!Tamina, art-student!Dastan, cultural and religious differences between generations, Tamina's lesbian moms, the author's rant on international adoption, Nasrin (aka Sharaman's wife and Dastan's mom, who in this story has a name and a personality and agency of her own), MBA!fratboy!player!Tus, industrial espionage, Tamina's unwavering sense of duty regardless of what century she's in, engineering-PhD!Garsiv (he is so adorable and so socially inept), and the author's rant on families of choice/creation.
In reality, however, it is ~1200 words of daily life and meeting the parents.

This was not going well. Feeling annoyed with him and her own inability to read him like she used to, Tamina spat waspishly, “Do you always do what they tell you?”
Dastan looked down at her with a closed expression. "As third son, I must support my brothers and do what they ask of me."
“I thought a man like you would prefer to make his own decisions,” she goaded him.
With a hard edge to his voice, he said with a sneer, “Don’t make the mistake of thinking you know me, Princess.”
Familiar words which caused her irritation to dissolve in a heartbeat. Tamina couldn’t help it, she smirked and seeing his bemusement she laughed in his face. With her hands clasping the dagger behind her back, she closed the distance between them until their bodies almost touched, looking up at him with a flirtatious challenge in her eyes.
“Oh? And what more is there?” she murmured, her voice like velvet.
“What kind of game are you playing?” he growled.
A 'Tamina remembers/Dastan does not' story.
Because I like the idea of Tamina outsmarting and (out)manipulating Nizam. -

Asoka clenched his teeth. It was not the first time he had dealt with foreigners doubtful of a ruling female monarch before – far from it. But at least they usually framed their doubts more respectfully.
"I assure you, the Queen is an exceptional ruler and she has been performing all her duties gracefully for a long time. Predating her marriage."
If this came out stilted, it was due to the concentration it took not to punch this disgusting man in the face.
"You can drop the act in front of me, boy. I won't tell."
Asoka took in a steadying breath, making sure to keep his facial expression neutral. "Voicing criticism on royalty and government is not punishable in Alamut. The Queen and King especially are open to counsel. I only speak what I feel to be the truth."
Or: Foreigners are not always polite in their opinions about the way Alamut is run. Asoka is used to this, but has had it with this man. Tamina is used to this and she has no problem shutting it down.
