This is a canon-divergent fic where Mal stays dead on the Fold and Alina decides to marry Nikolai. It is primarily a Darklina fic, but I have a lot of love for Nikolai as a character and I think I honor that in this story. There are also some elements from the King of Scars duology here which if you have read you will likely pick up on, but if you have not it is definitely not a prerequisite for this fic. This is set in the book!verse.

As he clashes with Kaz Brekker, Kaz’ hidden Grisha power is exposed and he is promptly kidnapped by the Darkling in an attempt to foster the boy’s ability in Ravka’s favor.The rest of the crows goes in pursuit while Kaz needs to reassess his priorities in life as well as who he really is during his time in the Little Palace, and the Darkling whose pull keeps drawing him closer than he would like it.

This story is going to offer an alternative take on main trilogy story in which neither Mal nor Alina will be present. I hope you can still, or because it, enjoy it :).
