Summary
"That has to hurt." Cub says distantly, already recovering from his daze at the sheer force of Scar’s magic. That much power, and absolutely none of it leaking into Scar’s voice? He knows that's painful for Scar.
"It's okay, it's okay, I don't want to spook you, it's fine, I'm fine, see, I'm fine and I'm here." Scar babbles reassuring circuitous and repetitive nonsense, smooth and over-eager and so painfully devoid of even the slightest charm. Cub has heard this before. He knows what this is.
"You're bound." Cub realizes, the words flat on his lips. Frigid chill tightens around his ribcage.

"Cub!" Grian cheers, brightening to see him.
Cub just nods, looking around.
"Did he really send you out here all by your lonesome to keep up his beauty sleep?" Grian asks, expression turning a bit bummed when he seems to notice no one else is with Cub.
"He's not. Here." Cub says.
"I noticed." Grian arches an eyebrow.
"He's not here." Cub repeats.
Now Grian falters, his good cheer cracking a little. "He went out hours ago. I think. A while, anyway. Are you sure you didn't just miss him getting in?"
Cub stares flatly at Grian.
"Right."

Summary
Scar creeps closer to where he can feel Cub. He doesn’t want to think the worst, he’s trying not to. But if it isn’t the worst, then Cub deserves to get a fright for scaring him like this anyway. Oh, Scar’s gonna get him but good if Cub did this for his own amusement!
So Scar is silent, he’s sneaky, he’s so close.
Close enough to hear Grian call out, bringing Cub to his side in an instant. Cub. In his full Vex aspect, wings and tail visible, skin pale, eyes glowing. Cub, floating beside Grian at attention, expression loose.
Close enough to hear Grian’s words.
“Good Vex.”
Scar’s wide, stricken eyes unable to look away from Grian petting Cub’s hair, Grian feeding purple magic sparks into Cub’s skin, into Cub’s wings, making Cub shiver into brighter glow with a satisfied lazy grin and a completely empty gaze.

Summary
Focused as he is on Hotguy, Cub barely notices himself being backed into a corner. Cub’s powers mean that the world holds very few actual corners for him, but- A selfish urge, to have Hotguy’s hands on him, to be slammed against a wall- To make the whole thing real.
A miscalculation. Hotguy does lay hands on him, but not to throw.
Click.
Hotguy’s power suppression cuffs. Cub had forgotten them. Hotguy never uses them on Cub.
Hotguy looks almost as startled as Cub does by his own actions. By the cuff on Cub’s wrist, real and solid.
If Cub phases out now, everyone will know. Hotguy will know. For the sake of his powers ruse, Cub has to pretend his powers are properly suppressed by the cuffs.
In a snap decision Cub may never understand about himself, he snatches the other cuff out of Hotguy’s hand, slapping it closed around Hotguy’s wrist with a second decisive click.Or:
