Ever since the attack on the Republic, the people have been in a state of shock and peril. It didn't help that the Order was losing its slip in the Convocation after Elder Mille-feuille’s arrest and disappearance. Or the calls of the Consul and other Divinian critics to ban the sect following the incident with the masked assailants. Witnessing the creation of these chaotic beasts in the flesh was but a simple mission she had done long ago, but the novice nun couldn’t help but notice herself get pulled into the tempest of struggle for power of the city-state.
Then came Seaweed— blithe and meek Seaweed, who'd rather disembowel herself with a shovel before uttering a prayer for dinner. The gravedigger at the local mudflats who’d give her a harsh talking for her faith, and then gift her rusted rosaries she dug up. According to the doctrine, maintaining social contact with a nonbeliever was sinful. Falling in love with one? Utter blasphemy.
As dark secrets are revealed and protests litter the streets in preparation for the eventual convocation vote, Pastry can’t help but wonder if a humble life by the sea and mud with Seaweed is where her destiny truly lies.

Red Velvet Cookie has suffered near fatal injuries thanks to Pastry Cookie. His body is weak and in constant pain. Dark Enchantress Cookie has assigned Licorice, a complete stranger to the cake general, to personally guard him during his recovery. Licorice quickly learns that Red Velvet is not what he seems, and feelings slowly blossom.

He's not finished, but his jaw clicks shut as if he's thinking of his words more carefully now. It makes her think of herself as a scared animal, as if his words will spook her out of her own skin. After a slight pause, he fixes her with a look, something hesitant and hopeful all the same.
“If there was an option, would you want to be reborn in the way Dark Enchantress was?”
Pastry is proud of herself in her response to his words. Where a version warped by the Order’s teachings would unquestionably shoot him on sight, the version of her now just—sits there. She thinks if there was no possibility of it, they would never be having this conversation.
