Among the bushes and flower shrubs sat a panicked Gunji Akira. He was starving, but the usual blood packet he had stashed away for emergencies was nowhere to be found. Panic surged through him as he frantically rummaged through his bag for his packets but came up empty-handed.
'Did I forget to bring some? Impossible… Aunt always helped me with—'
He immediately face-palmed himself, memories from two days resurfaced, and he remembered that his aunt and uncle were going on a vacation for the next week. Therefore, he's all on his own. He let out a heavy sigh, slumping down on the bench with his face buried in his hands.
'This is fine. I just need to hold out until the end of the day and get home quickly. Yes, you can do this.'
He could not, in fact, do this.

Akira’s pain in his throat and stomach seemed to only get worse as more of his energy was used. He felt more sluggish and clumsy, like he hasn’t slept in days while starving. He wasn’t dumb, he knew the cause of the pain; he needed blood. He knew it was stupid to avoid what he needed most to survive, but he feared that he may lose the scraps of humanity that were left.

He’s already confirmed that Kurusu Akira is indeed a vampire, and that he is somehow responsible for the rash of “changes of hearts”, though the method remains a mystery. He’s also secured himself as one of Akira’s “confidants”, trading favors for blood. All that’s left is to spring the trap, arrest his human confederates, and, of course, slay the beast.
