Summary

Vein smiled, slow and deliberate. “You’re lying again.”Lu Guang didn’t agree to a date. Not technically. But Cheng smirked and said, “It might help us figure him out.”
So now he’s sitting across from Vein at a hot pot place and dodging flirtation like live fire while pretending it’s all part of the job. What was supposed to be a tactical conversation starts to feel more like a trap with every smirk, every glance, and every carefully chosen word. The lines blur fast—between interrogation and intimacy, resistance and regret. And when the tension finally boils over, Lu has to face the truth: he might be outmatched, and not in the way he expected.-

He whistles as they wait, the crisp tap tap tap of a loafer against the ground, out of time with the thundering of the incoming train. Filling the not-silence. Xia Fei expects a reprimand: you haven’t been answering my calls, or my messages, a cool laugh low like the rumbling of metal, are you trying to provoke me, Felix? A firm hand on his shoulder, or a softer, still calloused one tilting up his chin, directing Xia Fei’s defiant eyes right at him.
Or, Xia Fei hasn't been taking care of himself, and ignoring Vein. After fainting on set, Vein comes to him, and takes him home.

Liu Xiao doesn’t say, I was easier because you kept trying to intimidate me into giving in to unreasonable demands— it would be humiliating to admit the tactic had ever worked and that his defenses against Vein’s strategies hadn’t come pre-installed, that he’d ever been so easy to read or maneuver, but he lets a hint of bite into his voice when he says, “I’m glad you think I’ve improved.” He angles his cards towards Vein, still.
Vein laughs and catches the irritation, says, “I’m not,” shamelessly. Then, he taps on one of the splayed-open cards to say, this one.
