“How?” Jayce asks breathlessly. The figure doesn’t respond; instead, they lift a slender hand, covered in strange blue veins and runes, and for a moment, it looks like the figure might drop something from their hands to Jayce’s gloved ones before they pause.
In a universe two steps from canon, the Arcane Herald exists as a patron god of Zaun. At age 8, Jayce encountered this god, changing the course of his life. At age 14, he is discovered by the Herald’s order and told he’s the god’s Chosen, his mortal consort. At age 18, Jayce is sent to live in the Commune, the heart of the Herald’s order, to ascend to his destined status.

Caitlyn can feel her face heat up a little. She glances away, clearing her throat, and she can feel her Adam’s apple press against the thick collar.
“Oh?” Vi raises an eyebrow. “I think somebody liked that.”

Summary
In the year 3099, Piltover is a cyberpunk dystopia run by Medarda Corporation, which has monopolized the production and selling of cyberware. If technology runs Piltover, Ambessa Medarda is only a close second, hoarding the profits of cyberware to herself and a few others, and using the Piltover Police Department to silence any discordance.
Jayce is working for Medarda Corporation as a lead scientist, conducting research on a project he calls Hextech. The idea has the capacity of being as revolutionary as cyberware once was —as a sort of technology that improves the human body’s functions without the replacement of living tissue— except lately the Medarda board has been threatening to shut it down.
