Summary
Sam's psychic powers are back, and Eve Baird is the only one who knows. Sam is spiraling when she forces her way onto a case with him, Dean, and Cas to keep an eye on the freaking-out younger Winchester. But the case ends up being a lot more dangerous than it would've first appeared, and reveals a lot more about Sam than Eve expected.
This is the seventh in a series! Probably won't make much sense if you haven't read the previous.

“I don't know” Sam answered honestly, because what was the point of lying anymore? He had nothing left to give, he had nothing left to hide. It was cold. So, so cold. Sam hated the way that he pressed more into Lucifer's hands because somehow they were warm, warm despite the cold.

It can’t end like this.
He can feel the dry press of dirt on his lips, feel a fractured rib echoing heat into his torso, enough to warm his leather jacket. He can feel his hope shattering like a beer bottle on a brick wall at the end of a shitty night.
Dean breathes out, and it’s barely enough to rustle the leaves in front of him. He closes his eyes.
After failing to kill Lucifer with the Colt, Dean says yes to Michael to ensure Sam and Cas' safety, thus sparking the Apocalypse of biblical prophecy. But surviving it himself is another matter altogether.

Some things he could override, especially when he wanted Sam dead, but some things remained under all circumstances. Now, there was the threat hanging over his head. The consequences of his actions weren’t even known to him yet. He didn’t know if he’d survive long enough to see them come.

Dean should have stopped trying to save him a long time ago, Sam thought. Dean should have left him behind a long time ago. Should have gotten out before Sam had the chance to drag him down, down, down right beside him.
