Summary
Jack pauses at his doorstop, key in hand, nonplussed as he takes in the small army of people hauling boxes and furniture into the once-empty house.
“Swoops, if you drop that box of plates, I’m fucking murdering you!” a voice calls out in cheerful warning. “That dining set has been in Ransom’s family for over twenty years!”
“What the hell, bro, plates do not last that fucking long!” a tall figure balancing a precarious stack of boxes yells back.

Or, the one where Jack is a solitary spellbook shopkeeper, whose quiet life gains a lot more color when Kent Parson and Justin Oluransi, warlock partners deeply in love, move into the house across the street.

Summary
Jack just wasn't the sort to believe that the universe hated him. The universe was vast, ancient, and presumably had better things to do that mess with an NCAA hockey player from Montreal. The universe, he believed, was entirely indifferent to him.
No doubt whatever it was that had it out for him was on a much smaller scale.
This is the story of Jack trying to maintain his determined single-mindedness to win the Stanley Cup throughout the crucial senior year, despite an endless parade of distractions. Like friendship and love, magic, the criminal justice system, the inherent fragility of human life, and that Halo song that he keeps getting stuck in his head.

Summary
“My true love will have hair the color of yellow apples,” and Jack Zimmermann will take a bite from the forbidden fruit, juice running down his chin. “My true love will be exactly five feet and six-and-a-half inches tall,” and he will chew a leaf from a tree of that same height. “My true love will be as sweet as sugar and sharp as lemon,” and he will drink half a glass of Great-Aunt Cathy’s lemonade, waiting until the last dregs of sugar hit his tongue. “And if a single one of these things is not to be, then let it be known—my true love shall not be he.”
(He knows in his bones that this spell won’t ever come true. After all, his true love isn't real, and if he’s not real, then the curse can’t take him. That’s the whole point.)
--
Or, a Practical Magic AU. Wherein Jack Zimmermann must deal with family curses, hockey legacies, accidental manslaughter, Kent Parson’s obstinate death wish, and a snarky Southern kitchen warlock who won’t mind his own damn business.

Summary
Back in Montreal, not long before the draft, Jack had died. But only for a bit.
The witch he'd met there had very kindly saved his life, so he was inclined to forgive him any small oversight. For instance, the lack of instruction manual or, perhaps, the fact that he'd neglected to mention Jack's new psychic powers.
So he kept his head down. Played hockey. Tried to navigate old friends and new teammates. And, occasionally, he'd have to go and stop a death he'd seen coming like he was some sort of conscientious banshee. What he absolutely didn't want to do was to solve any mysteries or delve any deeper into the whole magic... thing.
