Summary
Sam's family is beloved by their town, charmed with all sorts of gifts. However, like everyone in his family, all of Sam's lovers are cursed with bad luck.
EXCERPT:
“This? This happens all the time, don’t worry about me,” said Bucky, but Sam knew that was wrong, he knew it as he kept holding Bucky’s hand even after Bucky was fully standing, “Are you okay? Those pumpkins flew everywhere.”
This wasn’t happening to Sam.
“Mr. Bucky, where should we put the pumpkins?” asked AJ as he and Cass held armfuls of pumpkins in their hands.
“Oh. Uh. There’s a pile in the back,” explained Bucky as he released Sam’s hand and started to gather some of the pumpkins from Sam’s nephew’s arms, “I got these, don’t you worry – ”
Bucky toppled over his broken booth again, and Sam knew it to be true. He knew what he had feared had come to pass.
Sam wasn’t going to let it happen.

Summary
Sam Wilson hasn't had a familiar since Riley died. Now, it seems as if he's getting a new one every week.
EXCERPT:
Sam bent down, sitting on the balls of his feet as he touched the newly minted space. He could feel the static of it, almost like touching a live wire, but not quite as fatal. Just – strangely fuzzy; a jolt to the system that made Sam sharpened his focus.
There was more than just space; there was an entire gap. Sam frowned, unsure what that meant. There had been just enough for a space when Riley came into his life for Riley to carve his name. What did it mean that a whole expanse had grown near Sam’s place on the porch?
Maybe it would be someone with huge handwriting?
Though.
Was Sam ready for that?
A new familiar in his life. A new romance. A new partner in his magics. Not to replace Riley, no, but someone who would live in spaces Riley once had all to himself.
Sam didn’t know.

Summary
Sam Wilson gets dared by his friends to hang out in the woods for ten minutes. There, he meets a mysterious young man.
EXCERPT:
“Dare, huh?” asked Misty as she looked around for inspiration, taking a sip of her solo cup, “What about… the woods?”
“The woods?” asked Sam, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah! The woods,” said Colleen, pointing her solo cup to the woods, “Ten minutes in the bayou, Sam.”
“Sounds like the start of a horror film,” said Nat, shaking her head, “You can’t ask him to just walk into the woods.”
“Hey. No. Dare is a dare. It’s not like I don’t know the woods next to my own house. It’s not even dark yet,” said Sam.
There wasn’t really a fence between Sam’s backyard and the woods that backed up to his home. He spent most of his childhood exploring those woods with his siblings. He would be okay at the edge of the woods for ten minutes in broad daylight.
“Better save me some of those cupcakes for when I return,” said Sam as he began walking to the tree line.
“Will do!” yelled Misty as Sam made it into the woods.
