Summary
In "The Demon Left Behind", Yumeno Kyuusaku, known as Q, grapples with deep resentment and isolation, feeling trapped in a world they can’t fully reach or belong to. From their perspective, the outside world is an unattainable realm, and they believe that everyone else is favoured by a god who has forsaken them. As they dwell on their hatred for others—the manipulative Dazai, the ruthless Mori, the hypocritical Agency, and even the pitiful Atsushi, Akutagawa, and Higuchi—Q’s bitterness only intensifies. Ultimately, their loathing turns inward as they come to view themselves as a wretched creature, a demon with no hope for redemption. Struggling with anger, envy, and self-hatred, Q exists as a tragic figure, rejected by the world and by their own self-image.
