Steve makes the (fond) mistake of asking Tony why his head isn’t in the game during their weekly sparring session after he gets him on the ground worryingly easily for the fourth time in 30 seconds.
Turns out Tony’s been bottling up feelings about how stressful work is at the moment (what a surprise). Particularly about how much certain board members are doggedly determined to get Tony’s company back into weapons manufacturing.
Steve, of course, always listens and has feelings of righteous fury about the whole situation…But he’s struggling not to laugh at Tony’s indignant and wrathful “I’ve had it up to here!” When “Here” is only about 4ft off the ground at this current moment in time. Never mind the fact that Tony all sweaty and worked up from sparring is a distraction for him at the best of times…

“It looks plenty bad enough to me to justify you staying in bed,’ Steve said, sternly. “Besides, I seem to remember you making me a promise that you’d get yourself looked after.”
“Sure,” Tony said, “but-“
“This is part of it,” Steve told him.
“That’s not part of the deal I was envisioning,” Tony told him. He felt really woozy now, easy, floating, but he still frowned at Steve for that.
“Not my fault if you don’t read fine print,” Steve said.
Tony stared at him for a moment, then frowned a little more. “There was no fine print,” he said grumpily. It was so hard to focus now. “It was a verbal agreement.”

Tony and Steve on a mission encounter a juvenile magic wielder, who, in their amateurish approach, manages to bungle a spell meant to freeze Tony.
Whilst Steve and Tony are glad that Tony isn’t paralysed, being unable to move his head beyond blinking is a little frustrating.
No smiling, no laughing, no talking.
At least he was wearing a fairly neutral expression, Tony thinks. Or Steve hasn’t mentioned that he looks ridiculous…which may just be to save his ego. Nevertheless, a shower whilst Steve tries to contact Wanda sounds like a good idea.
Except it’s just Tony’s luck that the shower is older than Steve himself, apparently immune to even his genius and possessed with a singular goal; to run scalding hot and send what’s left of Tony’s ego down the drain.

Tony Stark is awoken from his short sleep by a phone call from Pepper, reminding him of some company meetings that he has to attend with her, despite her being CEO, it was a matter of him still being the last living Stark. Loki, his fiance, notices that he is gone from bed and wakes up a few moments later, woken by kisses, when Tony is looking for his gold cufflinks for their engagement party later that evening. With a few kisses, he heads off to the meeting, going home as soon as he was finished to find Loki reading.

When Steve’s ship is irreparably damaged, Rhodey takes him and his whole crew onto the Iron Advance to recover. Tony’s not at all nervous about this, because so what if this is the first time Steve will see him without the Iron Man armor?
