“I do not ship NickelSteel,” Edgeworth exclaims, then slaps a hand over his mouth. He glances across the table. Phoenix and Gumshoe are engaged in a lively discussion with Larry and have missed the whole interaction. Apparently, this is all the reassurance Edgeworth needs to lean across the table towards Maya and hiss, “Nickel and Steel’s relationship is that of a mentor and mentee. If you insist upon me shipping Steel with anyone but his canon love interest, which I do not, then I’d pick the Evil Magistrate, obviously.”
Maya claps her hands in delight. “Oh, Mr Edgeworth,” she says, “We are about to have so much fun.”

“I thought we held a similar disdain for politicians,” Miles hums in lieu of a greeting, settling a few paces across from Phoenix. The attorney looks up and blinks, a brief flicker of emotion passing across his face before it’s smoothed over. Miles frowns at the sight. Phoenix has always been outspoken and unafraid to show emotion. Yet now, he’s acting almost distant.
“People change,” Phoenix responds.
Miles can concede that point. People do change, yes. But Phoenix Wright doesn’t.
Phoenix is acting uncharacteristically. Miles decides to get to the bottom of it.

Phoenix Wright is the most revered defense attorney in Japan. He seems to win every case he takes, yet his opposition, Miles Edgeworth puts up a good fight.
Speaking of the silver-haired idiot. Sure, he was an idiot. But he was Phoenix's idiot. He was the idiot who'd taken up all the place in his mind for the last six years. He's the idiot Phoenix has pined for six years. He's a fucking idiot that Phoenix couldn't escape. Phoenix hides his feelings under a mask of indifference - he thinks there's no way in hell that someone like Edgeworth would reciprocate his feelings.
If only he knew that Miles shared these feelings and also hid his feelings for the same reason. They keep denying these feelings until they get trapped in a place, forced to confront their six years of desire, and enter into a relationship.
But that's the future - right now, Phoenix is a barely functioning bisexual mess around Edgeworth. Take a front-row seat to his suffering.
